Hello! My name is Merel. In a different life I would've loved to have my own radio show in the morning or play the drums every night. Instead I became an illustrator & designer. I love drawing, talking and going to museums. If you like my work: www.merelcorduwener.com.

We introduced her to you not so long ago, but today she gets started: Merel’s Mind. Fortnightly drawings about the daily life in Amsterdam. People going to work, hipsters crying about what choices to make, men living the dream on De Wallen or lost tourists in front of the Anne Frank House.

About four months ago, after I graduated, I moved to Amsterdam. In the beginning I got lost two (okay, three) times a week. I don’t have a smartphone and I was too proud to ask people for directions (come on, I was officially an ‘Amsterdammer’ now!). So I started drawing little maps that helped me find the way.

Nowadays I almost never get lost, and when I do, it turns out to be fun because I’m surprised about the new places I discover.

For Overdose I’m going to draw about Amsterdam and the remarkable things I see. Today I start with the core: the map of Amsterdam. Although I actually don’t need it anymore, this one is for all the people who still get lost!
