About the author
Ridz, advertises, produces indie/electronic music, performs throughout the Netherlands but ultimately always ends up at an Amsterdam based ensemble... then he blogs about all these things.

Time Warp, the world’s biggest indoor techno party, will make its second appearance at the massive areas and corridors of Utrecht’s infamous Jaarbeurs. On the 7th of December, we all head towards Time Warp Netherlands to be confronted with the essence of underground techno. A party set-up in a truly unique composition where sound, light, video and design all become one.

From Mannheim to Utrecht

Time Warp features more than 30 top national & international acts, spread over 6 floors all with high-end stage designs. Again, at the very special location that is the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. This venue is simply the perfect setting for extraordinary and demanding floor designs and technical highlights that you are used to from Time Warp Mannheim. Word on the street is they will take the highly anticipated ‘Cave’ to the next level, a stage with texture elements, videoprojections, incredible light techniques and an optical surprise effects. Furthermore, be well prepared for a place called ‘The Abyss’, your safest be to get lost in.

This year’s line-up

To get an idea of the musical firepower this festival will be slinging, we hand-picked a few notable artists to put in the spotlight for you.

THE LEGEND: SVEN VATH
He is one of the most prominent figures in the history of electronic music — from his beginnings in Omen to the creation of his label Cocoon Recordings and the legendary Cocoon seasons in Ibiza. In the year of his 30th anniversary as a DJ, Sven is still one of the scene’s driving forces. He has had his own nights at Amnesia Ibiza for over 10 years now and every monday he also rocks the island with his Cocoon Heroes. Never ceasing to provide his audience with emotional moments and sensations. That’s the reason why Sven Väth has been the headliner of all Time Warp editions for years.

THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: MANO LE TOUGH
Over the past year, Mano Le Tough has become one of the most surprising shooting stars of the international dance music scene. His impact has been so great that Kristian Beyer of Âme recently claimed in an interview that: “Thanks to Mano Le Tough, I have no fears for the future of House”. And not just Beyer, the entire Innervisions gang including Dixon have become fervent supporters of Mano Le Tough’s warm and melodic, yet driving sound. In short, call him Irish, romantic and illogical.

THE LOCAL BOSS: STEVE RACHMAD
No other Dutch DJ and producer has been leading in the underground dance scene as long as Steve Rachmad. Back in the early 90s he was already one of our country’s biggest talents ever. With over a hundred releases and remixes under his name, Steve Rachmad is without a doubt one of the most productive producers in Dutch dance history. An accomplishments that only a handful of people have behind their name. Rachmad is simply the godfather of Dutch electronic music.

THE CRAZY ONE: DOMINIK EULBERG
Attempted by so many people vainly, Dominik Eulberg is the only one who can claim for himself to have reconciled ornithology and techno successfully. Dominik Eulberg, the raving ornithologist from the Westerwald, is both an international booked DJ in spotlight and an observer of the domestic Flora and Fauna in quiescence – a master of reconciled contradictions. The creativity of his musical work will stay complex, innovative, and very emotional as always. This guy is a crazy genius and that is why we love him.
