Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Saturday: Georgie’s Wunder Garten
Our friend Georgie decided to throw a new get-together in his own garden, his Wunder Garten that is. Or as he is also calling it, the eighth world wonder. I’ve been told his garden will feature a variation of weird tents, dancing lights, strange birds and crazy stalls to name some. Noticeably, Georgie has pieced together a very deep line-up for you consisting of some familiar faces from around the neighborhood and some German guests to complete the picture. Special attention goes out to Dale Howard, Kruse & Neurnberg, Nhan Solo, Marcel Freigeist and Joshua Jesse. Of course, all of Georgie’s family members will be there to support his garden party: Anton Kuertz (live ensemble), Dirty Bastards, Primo Disco, Faux Couture, Primo Zapp & more. Location still to be announced, keep in touch with him.
Sunday: Next Monday’s Hangover Festival @ Minervahavenweg 25, Houthavens, Westerpark
On Sunday, it’s that time again. We’ll host an intimate get-together for a limited amount of people, showcasing a delicate brand of music. Spread over three areas, a collective of pioneers from the deeper, complex, storytelling strains of house, techno, and indie music will perform their art. Devotees of Kompakt, Nachtdigital, Innervisions, Bar25, Life and Death, Permanent Vacation and Future Classic, are bound to come dance with like-minded souls. This boutique summer-closing festival will take place at a new charming outdoor venue located in the central Houthavens in the Westerpark part of Amsterdam. Its green grass, sandy beach and view of the harbor are the perfect ingredients for a memorable day. Also, for this event we are teaming up with Utrecht based deep house and techno community SEKOIA. Their tasteful perspective on music, art and visuals felt like a natural match, so we’ve invited them to host the second area of our festival. Finally, this is probably the most forward-thinking line-up we’ve ever had. Literally, prepare for next monday’s hangover. Enjoy it.
