Well, it seemed like Amsterdam Fashion Week had a little somethin’ somethin’ for me in store on my birthday. The men’s shows were planned all day long, what a treat! Remember that episode from Sex and the City where Big has the heart surgery and Carrie shows up wearing a candy striper outfit? That was the first thing that came to mind when I saw Melissa Siegrist’s line. Or maybe I just wanted a personal, male nurse. Also very possible.
Sportswear with a twist
Anyway, she showed a sportswear line, inspired by the fifties. The colours weren’t too bright, a bit muted but not flat. The reds, pinks and greys made for a nice palette. She used linen and cotton, which made it feel even more summery. The guys looked comfortable wearing the clothes and they had a nice fit. They were a bit minimalistic, sportswear with a twist, if you will.
Their hair made the fifties look completely as well as the baseball jackets (which weren’t horrific and camp for a change!). If I was a guy, I would know what to wear next summer.
Oh and girls, I included some backstage photos. Man-candy, you know.
