About the author
I'm a food stylist, like pugs and doomcore and will buy a book twice if I like the edition. My favourite thing about Amsterdam is its windows and a certain house on the gracht where people read and plans are hatched by candlelight.

Branding agency Vandejong and social-designer Marina van Goor have come up with the perfect solution for those of us with a passion for eating alone in public. For two days you will no longer have to search for the perfect bench on which to eat your perfect sandwich. Instead, you can eat at Eenmaal, the first one-person restaurant in the world.

No longer will you have to sit in fear of being thought friendless, no longer will you have to settle for food ‘to go’…

Amsterdam’s newest pop-up restaurant hopes to quash all fears related to dining alone. No longer will you have to sit in fear of being thought friendless, no longer will you have to settle for food ‘to go’, no longer will it matter if you have the feeling that at least one of your friends is lying when they tell you no, they can’t go out for dinner, they’re broke. At Eenmaal, everyone sits alone, everyone eats excellent food and your friends wouldn’t be able to sit with you anyway. So let them stay at home ‘broke’ and treat yourself to a specially created four course menu. And if you still feel lonely, there’s always wine.
