Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Nightriders w/ Butch, Fairmont & Miss Melera @ AIR
Butch: brutal name, versatile sound. Over 100 releases in 5 years have enabled Butch to express this versatility and to brute-fully force his way in becoming a sound shaping artist in the worldwide landscape of electronic music. Fairmont, on the other hand, has been an important actor within a more niche following. After his new album Automaton on My Favorite Robot, my expectations for his new live show are high, as they always were. I hope he is just as awesome as he was last summer at the morgen.am stage during Lazy Sundays Festival. Local support comes from Miss Melera and Verdi & Sjeroem. AIR, this Friday night.
Friday: HOAX at Klinch @ Melkweg
Usually, this is not our kinda party, but it is this Friday. Why? GOLD PANDA! That’s why. The London sound wizard is back at Leidseplein’s Melkweg. His melodic and danceable tracks are perfect for a spectacular live show, as I recall from seeing him during Pitch Festival and 5 Days Off. He recently released a new EP and the new album is being highly anticipated too! Support comes from Letherette (UK), Vuurwerk (BE), and residents to the show DJ+ and Know VA.
Saturday: PRISMA @ Studio 80
“PRISMA is futuristic, complex, artistic, idiosyncratic, triangular and deeply mysterious, just like you are. PRISMA is Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon being performed live by Trentemøller high on XTC he got from James Holden. PRISMA is basically music from the future. A must for any cognoscente of the fusing and vivacious emo-electronica genre.” For its sixth edition, PRISMA teamed up music platform SEKOIA and invited French melodic techno producer Worakls, together with genre ambassadors 16 Bit Lolitas, Sivesgaard (DK), Hubert Kirchner, Het Meisje (aka BLS), Romyn and Florinsz Janvier for another night of emotional rollercoasters.
Saturday: MORGENAVOND: Francesco Robustelli ft. David Labeij @ Club Up & De Kring
Finally, MORGENAVOND this Saturday puts local hero Francesco Robustelli in the spotlights. Featuring all the necessary ingredients for another great label night, based on his music, personality and vision on parties. The intimate setting and wonderful sound of both Club Up & De Kring suit this night perfectly and as always there is a fresh EP to celebrate including originals by Francesco and a special David Labeij remix. They will both be playing, supported by ME.N.U., Maya J, No Reset, Du Chatinier, Trish Former Friends and Miwell. Support your local scene Amsterdam! I heard they’ll serve free prosecco from the start for those who come early. Enjoy the hangover.
