Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Blackout – XXX @ Chicago Social Club

As Michael Jacques once said, “BlackOut is about quality house, the best from the past but also the music of the moment. We try to keep all the good things from before with us, to respect the past and the roots of the music, but also to keep an eye open for its future.” Well, Friday they’ll be doing another night of quality house music featuring strictly Amsterdam based heroes. Cinnaman, Jan van Kampen, Beesmunt Soundsystem, Michael Jacques, Bob Nagel, Interstellar Funk, Berend Kirch, Jeroen Kok, Elias Mazian, Mudde, Faber and Roy Koch will all be taking turns to tear the place down.

Friday: Audio Culture @ Trouw

Oh yeah, quality bookings again by Audio Culture. You can’t go wrong, especially with Redshape in the house. Trying to describe Redshape’s sound is hard, sitting somewhere in between everything in dance music and his very own imagination. It’s not minimal, not maximal and always historically respecting Detroit’s vibe. Resident Advisor’s Pete Chambers once said that ‘the future of the past never sounded more contemporary’, which perfectly sums up Redshape’s musical vision. If you’re not into words, just check out his Boiler Room set beneath and let yourself be convinced. Support comes from London’s Pearson Sound and all the Audio Culture DJs of course. Visuals by CV Gabriel & Arnout Hulskamp.

Friday: Junction 12 Hours [w/ Shifted & Norman Nodge] @ Westerunie

Finally, Junction time, which is all about techno music in Amsterdam. That’s it, no deeper conceptual difficulties attached. Gather some of the best and upcoming techno DJs, put them in a club with a proper sound system and let’s go! For this edition they sail their ship towards the WesterUnie and WesterLiefde again. They’re very serious about it, expect twelve hours of light and dark techno. Light, because there’ll be a daytime pre-party at the Westergasterras featuring La Vondèl (live), Jean Pierre Enfant, Mattikk and Laym. After that, the saga continues inside, with Shifted from London and Norman Nodge from Berlin. Supplemented of course with residents Kevin Arnemann and Drum Tone. Enjoy that hangover Amsterdam.
