Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Thursday: Nachtcollege @ Barkode

Oh yeah, we start the weekend early this week. Why? ‘Cause Boris Brejcha is back in our town! Brejcha’s progressive musical development has made him a constant favourite in today’s club scene. No existing kind of style could describe his music, so he decided to create his own genre: “high-tech minimal”. This time, for Nachtcollege’s ascension day special, he’s back with more power than ever. Support comes from Robin Fett, Der Tucan and Elior Belmonte. See you up front.

Friday: Suol Night @ Studio 80

Suol is an independent Berlin based record label. Stylistically seen, Suol aims to release deep, grounded and organic music with great emotions. Suol has become a caring home for artists such as Fritz Kalkbrenner, Till von Sein, Trickski, Daniel Bortz, Tigerskin, Heiko Laux, Axel Bartsch, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Hatikvah, Chopstick & Johnjon and Zander VT. This Friday, they’ll be in town with some crew members such as Daniel Bortz, Chopstick & Johnjon, Till von Sein, Cardboard Motel and Burt Control in Rembrandtplein’s infamous Studio 80. Specifically Bortz, the deep and emotional sounding one amongst them, has never let me down in the past.

Saturday: Komm schon Alter festival (24+) @ DOK 2013

Es ist wieder soweit! After a sold-out edition at Amsterdam’s renewed club BARKODE our friends from Komm Schon Alter are back with a bigger than ever edition. Actually, an entire festival at the new hotspot in Amsterdam called DOK. The principle stays the same, eighteen year old pubescents are not welcome, but every 24+ soul can put on their dancing shoes. For the occasion they’ve invited Isaac Stern, Prosper Rek, Illesnoise, Super Flu, Dennis Williams, Miss Melera and Solee. Besides all this, I remember attending last time’s KSA and seeing alot of flirting going on around the dance floor, always good for the vibe.

Saturday: Straf_Werk – Daytime @ De Overkant

Raw, light, grand, impressive, authentic, industrial and versatile. Just some of the features of the newly renovated warehouse thay Amsterdam’s deephouse protagonists STRAF_WERK managed to get their hands on. Located on the IJ-shore in northern Amsterdam, it will house a twelve-hour indoor festival this Saturday, with acclaimed international artists in the house scene, including several workshops during the daytime. As always at STRAF_WERK, expect an impressive line-up featuring Art Department, Clockwork, Burnski vs M A N I K, WildKats, Voices of Black (live), De Sluwe Vos, Homework, PONY, Anil Aras, Kerk! and Francesco Robustelli (live).

Saturday: Je Moedernacht 5 Jaar @ Noorderlicht

On a more emo note: Je Moedernacht will be throwing their last and certainly not least of Je Moeder events. After that, they’ll disappear like snow in the spring sunshine. So make sure you’re at Noorderlicht this Saturday evening to support the traditional celebration of your mother. Literally bring along your mother to this all star edition of Je Moedernacht featuring Janszoon & Pac00, Daniel Zuur & Florian Wolff (live), Elias Mazian & Khalil and of course Pitto. Support your local scene.

Saturday to Monday: Lost In A Moment @ Trouw

Finally, to close off this insane weekend, as if it wasn’t enough, we’re bound to get ‘lost in a moment’. Probably the most anticipated event Trouw has ever known. The Innervisions crew is invading the east of Amsterdam from Saturday until Monday, including some special guests like personal favourites Mano Le Tough and KiNK! No further elaboration is needed actually. Just that there will be tickets at the door only. Damn right. Have an amazing hangover.

Honourable mentions go out to Wunderbar, Op de Valrave, PaardenKracht, White Rabbit and Backstage who are also hosting great events this weekend, but we had to make some tough choices.

Sharing is caring!
