Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: PRISMA @ Studio 80
Futuristic, complex, artistic and idiosyncratic are just some of the words that describe PRISMA best. Music from the future, to summarize it. For its fifth edition, PRISMA invited German melodic techno producer Ryan Davis, together with genre ambassadors Arjuna Schiks, Applescal, Nuno Dos Santos, Some Chemistry, 10dens and Rachelle Grooten to complete another night of mixed feelings.
Friday: KOOKPUNT @ Warehouse
When was the last time you visited a good old warehouse rave? Maybe yours was last weekend, but mine has to be a while ago. For the second edition of this straightforward house and techno gathering, they found a new warehouse, never used before and just 10 minutes away from Central Station. Again, they lined up major house and techno protagonists from Amsterdam like Makam, Joop Junior, Jasper Wolff, Maarten Mittendorff, Ici Sans Merci and Dirty Bastards. Rumours are they have some Funktion 1’s hanging there, a later end-time than your usual club party, mini pizza’s, Club Mate and enough balloons filled with laughter.
Friday: Zeezout with Prins Thomas All-Nighter @ Chicago Social Club
This Friday Zeezout returns to the Chicago once more. For this edition they asked Prins Thomas to join in again after last years’ success, with complete freedom to do a full all-night-er in the main saloon. Expect disco, house and a lot of rarities. Furthermore, in line with the recent launch of SALT|music, they have Halve Soul, Het Meisje and LIFEonMARS playing at the bar. Sounds like high fives and happy times.
Saturday: BandjeBandje – Muziek IN DE House 1 @ Warehouse
A chronological night in the present, inspired by the past. Another genius musical experiment by the men behind BandjeBandje. Don’t understand? Simple, the night will develop musically throughout decades, from the ’70s up until 2013 and beyond. Mees Dierdorp will hit it off with a 70’s set, followed by Holger Hecler, all the way from Germany for his ’80s set. Then it’s San Proper with a ’90s mix, Olaf Stuut starting at the year 2000 and finally Flannels ending the night in the 2010 era and beyond. Go support these fresh kinds of concepts and enjoy the hangover.
P.S. If you’re looking for something else to do on this Saturday, I heard there’s a special party bus taking you on a small road trip and back for the night.
