Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Colors & Redlight Radio Invites L.I.E.S. Records @ Trouw
Trouw is home for cutting edge UK bass music to potentially start creating serious mosh pits this Friday. Colors invites Redlight, a Bristol-based artist navigating the unnamed airspace between house, breakbeats, dubstep and other well-loved dance music sounds. Having already crafted a handful of jet-propelled bangers which have won over early fans and followers including Skream, Toddla T, Jack Beats, Goldie, Carl Cox, Pete Tong and Annie Mac, Redlight now looks set to become a high-flyer. Also, New York Transit Authority will be present; a brand new project for the real transit freaks & the 9 to 5 workers who travel everyday on the underground railway networks around the world. Of course, host Cinnaman will be present to kill the dance floor. De Verdieping is hosted by Redlight Radio, twho’ve invited the illustrious label L.I.E.S. featuring Ron Morelli, Steve Summers (live), Delroy Adwards and Svengalishgost (live).
Friday: Nachtdivisie – Night Fever by SHMLSS @ Chicago Social Club
After emptying the ideas-box, these guys found out that the female followers of de Nachtdivisie unanimously crave disco. Therefore, they decided to move down a few BPMs and add some more vocals and cowbells on the dance floor. In other words, they gave the heroes of SHMLSS an evening to curate. Because they’re cool, and so is disco. For this occasion they managed to invite LeSale, the Frenchman that is known for his numerous disco edits. Furthermore, local heroes Marcel Vogel, KERK! (Disco set), Chris Ivan, Halve Soul, Lumiere and John Pk will all be in the house to ‘represent’.
Saturday: Next Monday’s Hangover – Noah’s Ark @ Jaap Eden Hal
Finally, this weekend’s grande finale. Next Monday’s Hangover is heading back to the Jaap Edenhal for another indoor festival of epic proportions. In continuation of last year’s biblical Garden of Eden theme they’ve decided to team up with one of history’s most famous party animals: Noah, head of the famous ‘Ark Club’. His parties are known for high diversity in species, equal distribution of men and women and everyone behaving like wild animals. For this return to Jaap Eden they have some serious expansion plans. This year they will open the stands, shrink the dance floor and upgrade the sound, light and decor to a whole other level. Expect something you’ve never seen in Amsterdam before. Presenting what is probably the very best line-up in NMH’s history prepared for you. And oh yes, be sure to look, feel and dance like a wild beast for this one. On the menu: Apparat, Pantha Du Prince (live), Dominik Eulberg, Olivier Weiter, Rodriguez Jr. (live) (FR // mobilee), Nuno dos Santos & Some Chemistry, SHMLSS, La Vondèl & ME.N.U., Jorn Liefdeshuis, Maya J & No Reset , L’Atelier & Eigenwijs and Mulla & Mailman, all in one Ark! Ps. take note, there will be an official afterparty at Amstelhaven with festival artists.
