About the author
Hi, I'm Sharron (26). Characterized as curious, easily bored and afraid to miss out. So always looking for a new adventure.

Cottoncake was born over a year ago out of a dream. But Jorinde and Tessa didn’t want to start just another fancy shop, they wanted to create one with a special feeling that would envelope you like a warm blanket when you entered. The influences that were to inspire Cottoncake’s perfect cappuccinos and beautiful fabrics were to come from all over the world and come together to make a dream reality. Now there’s food, fashion and art all in one shop.

Even from day one, the pretty boutique in the cosy De Pijp was one that should be on your to-do list. Not only is there specially selected clothing but also delicious lunch, served to you as if you’ve entered a food Valhalla. Jorinde, mostly involved with Cottoncake’s food concerns, glows: “I’ve been to Australia and was overwhelmed by its food culture. The vibe at spots where you can hang out with your friends and brunch all day long… I wondered why we didn’t have such spots here. For me, that was a true inspiration. I wanted to share that experience with people in Amsterdam.”

The lifestyle experience they wanted to create doesn’t stop at just clothes and good food, however. “Tessa is more into the interior part of Cottoncake. She sees stuff she gets excited about, like a tile wall she saw at a metro station in Tokyo,” Jorinde explains, “And brings her inspiration to the shop. Together, we form a great team.”

We started out very carefully, but after a month our total spring collection was sold out.

As if this isn’t enough, the girls from Cottoncake are also starting out on a new dream venture. They went to Indonesia to source the prettiest fabrics to make their own label Ikat jackets. Each one is uniquely handwoven and there’ll only be 25 of them, so mark your agenda for April 1st when they go on sale. I had a sneak peak and I can assure you, they’re absolutely gorgeous!
