I love interior design, and I like to believe that some day I’ll change my small and overcrowded room for something a little more magazine-worthy. Until then I have to stick to gazing at design blogs or, evenb better, discover stores in Amsterdam for some inspiration. Friday Next certainly is such a place. Located next to Marqt, this spacious concept store sells an interesting mix of items from Dutch designers, as well as Scandinavians or Italians.

Pioneer concept store

The store has been open for a while now and was actually one of the first to bring the ever more popular concept store, which combines art, shopping and food, to Amsterdam. The people behind Friday Next like to compare it to a good blog, where good ideas get spread without much hassle; Friday Next aims to be just as accessible to talented, creative designers.

The store’s main focus lies on interior design and it thus sells goods such as furniture and home decorations. Nevertheless, accessories like bags and scarves, (design) books and other small gadgets are being sold as well. A cafe, great for working or drinking a cup of coffee, is part of the store too. An exposition space where (emerging) artists have the opportunity to showcase their work has been installed in the basement. So, all in all this store has many functions, and I particularly like that it’s a great source of inspiration, yet it also has some smaller, affordable wannahaves!
