Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Gregor Tresher’s Birthday @ Studio 80

“In the trend-driven universe of electronic dance music, Gregor Tresher is the rare artist who transcends such cycles. His secret? A relentless focus on melody and timbre, timeless musical elements that other producers often undervalue.” The man will be celebrating his birthday this Friday in Studio 80, and he invited one of my favourite deep techno artists Petar Dundov to share the booth with him. Local support comes from Mike Ravelli and Joey Daniel. Again, go check out Petar Dundov if you’re one of those people that likes closing their eyes while listening to music.

Friday: Drukpers @ Trouw

Drukpers is Job Jobse’s own club night at his palace called Trouw. As a former programmer for the club he must have an eye for DJ talent out there. This time around he kept his line-up a bit more conservative, with two absolute professionals in the game Ben UFO and Prosumer. Robert Bergman is the local who apparently we should all come early for. Ben UFO is a London based DJ and co-founder of the record label Hessle Audio, alongside Ramadanman and Pangaea. Fun fact: He’s a talented singer in his own right; Ben provided the vocals for Pangaea’s ‘Router’. Prosumer needs no elaboration, this Berghain family member has been making a name for himself with releases on the Berghain related Ostgut label and by touring around the world for the last few years.

Saturday: Lockdown invites Numbers @ Secret Warehouse

They’ve been throwing events at the rawest locations over the years. Although it’s been quiet around Lockdown, they haven’t been inactive. That’s right, they found a large indoor mud warehouse location where no party has been thrown before for their next edition. It’s supposed to be mind-blowing. Also, they’re allowed to continue up to 07:00 in the morning. For the occasion Numbers has been invited with artists like Jackmaster, Spencer, DJ Ez, Loefah, Code9, Cinnaman and Audio Culture. Of course, just like in the old days, the location will be kept secret until you get a number you can call on the night to find out where to go.

Saturday: SWTBOX @ Trouw

SWTBOX is the clubnight of Trouw resident Nuno Dos Santos. SWTBOX is about creating a home for all those who love to give 100% on the dance floor, all night long. For those who follow their legs and hips instead of trendy music blogs. For those who come to a club in order to give, not take. For those who love to lose themselves in a sensory overload of mind-bending sounds, strobes, sweat, bodies and the surreal visuals of VJ Arnout Hulskamp. Full throttle. SWTBOX, this time featuring a very special all-nighter brought to you by Aril Brikha and Nuno Dos Santos back to back! Expect the best of uplifting neo-trance and experimental music. Enjoy the hangover.
