A mixtape from an Amsterdam based DJ every Monday to kick-start your new week. Archive here.
This week’s Mixtape Monday is by Johanna Mercker and just in time to play for a late night listening session. Her style could be best described as warm, deep and groovy with clear house-elements. Her incentive in music is not only to release a swing in the crowd but also to put down a sprinkling performance which is a pleasure for the ear and eye. Enjoy!
Spring is here and you can feel it! It is when the birds start singing and the sun beams through your window. You feel fresh and playful, with colors added to your days.
Youngster Michiel Tettero (20) is on Mixtape Monday duty this week. He may be just 20, but after already making his club debut in Haarlem’s Club Stalker back in 2006 you could say he has already been noticed. His style could be described as a mix between house, tech-house, deep house, jazz and techno with phat grooves and inciting rhythms and hi-hats. Not an everyday blend, but certainly a tasteful one. He has recently released his first EP, in collaboration with Camiel Daamen, Everybody EP (PiekUp Records) and more will follow soon.. (..more)
This week we have DJ duo Halve Soul in Mixtape Monday. Only one year ago, Roberto Balzarelli and Dieuwer Duijf started Halve Soul together with a new monthly night in Le Patron. Their aim was to bring a different kind of sound, which evolved into a highly danceable four quarter funk with a small obsession for the bass line. They got picked up by local promoters ZeeZout and Paardenkracht who were both also on the rise, and this led to gigs in Paradiso, AIR, Chicago Social Club, Buiten Westen and Valtifest. Enjoy!
