Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Wired at Klinch @ Melkweg
This Friday we kick off a new edition of Wired, with two legends from house and techno capital city Detroit. Who are we talking about? Robert Hood and Kyle Hall, right there for you at Leidseplein’s Melkweg. Robert Hood is one of Detroit’s godfathers of techno, while Kyle Hall represents the new generation of talented producers and DJs from that area. Your host and co-creator Tom Ruijg will be present to set you in the mood for this night of underground dance music.
Friday: Kreativ 2 Years Anniversary with Charles Webster (UK) & All Kreativ artists @ Studio 80
At Amsterdam’s other square some other shindigs worth mentioning are going down. Our friends of Kreativ for example, who’ll be celebrating their two years of existence with a special guest from the UK called Charles Webster. More importantly, all residents and friends of Kreativ will be present to celebrate: Tijn Benedek, AM&I, Pascal Benjamin, Bas Dobbelear, Jan van der Lugt, Lumiere, Mailman, Mulla, L’Atelier, Eigenwijs and Timo Niksen (Live on Drums). Go support your local scene!
Friday: Future Disco invites Tiger & Woods (live) (IT) / Sean Bronsnan (UK) @ AIR
Future Disco, the concept initiated by Sean Brosnan in London, later moved to clubs in Ibiza and later to our own EDM capital Amsterdam. The first edition was a great kick-off, featuring Greg Wilson and the Revenge. This time around they got disco heroes Tiger & Woods from Italy to perform live, a act that really hit it off over the past year. Support comes from Future Disco initiator himself Sean Brosnan and local heroes Tom Trago & Larry de Kat. Area 2 is hosted by Natives featuring Aike & Dickson and Martin Bell & Mike Melchiot.
Saturday: VERKNIPT invites Arjuna Schiks @ Barkode
Finally, we close off the weekend with a party called VERKNIPT, featuring warm, deep and melodic house and techno sounds from Amsterdam. Nine DJs to be specific. Who ever mentioned less is more? Wait for it… Arjuna Schiks (live), Prunk, Francesco Robustelli (live), ME.N.U, Deep N Disco Boys, John Steel, Daan Donk and last but not least Ferro and Mesquitas (live). All of this, together with Funktion 1 soundsystems over 2 areas and 700 other people should work for a night to remember. Including the usual Hangover on Monday. Cheers!
