A mixtape from an Amsterdam based DJ every Monday to kick-start your new week. Archive here.
Black Pillow (Joakim Lindhout) discovered turntables by listening to scratch and turntablism legends such as DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist and Qbert at the age of 15. Not long after that, his taste spread out towards the famous Ninja Tune label with artists like Amon Tobin, Mr. Scruff and Bonobo. This started his fascination for electronic music. So far, he has played in respected places such as Studio 80, Chicago Social Club, Club Poema and The Stubnitz. His style is deephouse with a twist. Influences from funk and discohouse are varied with downtempo or a stronger sound from the corner of tech-house.
Lines between the genres are fading and older, classic tracks are more appreciated. This mixtape starts at 107bpm and finishes at 123bpm, containing tracks varying from downtempo and funky house to disco and deephouse.
