Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: KOOKPUNT @ Amsterdam Studios
When was the last time you visited a good old rave in a warehouse? Mine was ages ago, maybe yours just last weekend. But there can never be too many warehouse parties being organized around this city. As you know, GZG is pulling the plug, all clubs have childish opening hours and illegal parties in this city are being blown off all the time. Time for new alternatives, like KOOKPUNT this Friday. Two obscure areas, some quality speakers, the best underground DJs from Amsterdam and ofcourse a late ending time. No strings attached. Expect rancid beats from Dekmantel Soundsystem, Cinnaman, Sandrien, Ici Sans Merci, Markcus and more.
Feel like a good old fashioned warehouse rave? Share your favourite ‘warehouse-anthem’ by commenting on this post on Facebook, and we’ll give the best contributions 2×2 tickets for this event! I know mine is Rekorder’s 9.2.
Saturday: Late Night Society @ Trouw
So glad to see Trouw’s Late Night Society is bringing back Mathew Jonson to town. The guy really is one of a kind. He’s developed one of the most distinctive voices in electronic dance music: when you hear one of Jonson’s tracks, you almost immediately know it’s his. And yet there’s no mistaking any given track for another. True story. This Saturday, at Trouw only. Supporting the Canadian legend; Thomas Martojo and William Kouam Djoko. Sounds like quality music all night long.
Saturday: 24 Hour Party People – presents Soweso @ Studio 80
Finally, this Saturday from 11PM to 9 in the morning (or later) it’s serious party time again. Together with our friends from the Soweso collective, Studio 80 has another marathon worked out for you. Guest of honour is called Jef K, all the way from Paris. Of course, a 24 Hour Party People wouldn’t be the same without some local power coming from Lauhaus, Kabale und Liebe, Beesmunt Soundsystem (live) and finally Tom Ruijg & Efdé doing an 8 hour long set, yes 8 hours! You better start getting your energizers together folks. Oh yeah, before I forget, a special afterhour ticket for this one is 10 euro. Have a fantastic hangover.
