Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Rekorder @ Air

You might know Rekorder from previous editions over the past five years. If you haven’t been a clubber for that long yet, you probably ran into their stage during Qday Festival or Buiten Westen last summer. The whole purpose of their comeback was to bring back a feeling of ‘love’ to Dutch dance floors. Happy faces, sex on the dance floor and going mental to the beats of Davide Squillace, De Man Zonder Schaduw, Wouter de Moor, Miss Melera, Some Chemistry and Olaf Stuut (live) this time. Don’t forget to bring your fishing rod and hook up with someone, ’cause this one will be all about going fishing. See you up front.

Friday: Blackout @ Chicago Social Club

For this inauguration of Blackout at Amsterdam’s popular house temple Chicago Social Club, they invited one of the most respected DJs from the UK. None other than Benji B, known for his weekly BBC radioshows and outstanding club sets. The main theatre will also feature your host and BlackOut resident Michael Jacques to warm up your legs. To complete this, Mr Colors a.k.a. Cinnaman will close down the place like no one else can. I can feel the bass in my stomach just writing about it.

Friday: Movember Gala Parté @ MC Theater

From the 1st of November over 7000 men decided to grow their mustache to generate attetion towards prostate cancer research. Also women – Mo Sistas – joined this year to support the cause in other ways, both morally and financially. On the last day of November, the coordinators of this initiative are celebrating the proceeds with a Movember Gala which will be opened by local legend Joost van Bellen. ‘The Man of Movember’, ‘Miss Movember’ and ‘The Lame Mo’ will also be selected by a jury. Support comes from Victor Coral, Mo Chemistry, When Harry Met Sally and other Schmutz DJs. As if that wasn’t enough, the band ‘Mannen met Snorren’ will be performing live as well. If you didn’t grow a tash, at least support this cause by buying a ticket for this event in Westerpark’s MC Theater.

For the occasion we’re giving away 2×2 tickets for you and a friend, to come and enjoy all the tashes at this event. Just comment on this post on Facebook with your all-time favourite mustache ambassador! Mine is Hulk Hogan. Winner announced on Friday around noon.

Saturday: PRISMA @ Studio 80

“PRISMA is futuristic, complex, artistic, idiosyncratic, triangular and deeply mysterious, just like you are. PRISMA is Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon being performed live by Trentemøller on XTC he got from James Holden. PRISMA is basically music from the future. A must for any cognoscente of the fusing and vivacious emo-electronica genre.” After two fully occupied prior editions, PRISMA invited some very special guests to celebrate its third and most triangular edition in Amsterdam’s electronica temple Studio 80. Rone (live) and Worakls will be making their official Dutch debut, Compuphonic will do an epic long set and local heroes Applescal and Daniel Zuur will perform their latest material in a live matter. Of course, your host Some Chemistry will take the complexity of the night to the next level.
