About the author
Rozemarijn, pleased to meet you. Interested as I am in very many things - cities, musicians' biographies and early morning swims to name but a few - in the end I like to stick to the basics: music, food and the image. Suffering from limitless energy and curiosity, I'm always up for something.

Let me start with a little confession: I’m a rookie when it comes to vintage shopping. The explanation? I like stores to be neat and orderly –not a standard feature of second-hand shops– and to be honest… I just like my clothes to be new. However, this doesn’t mean I’ll look the other way when something interesting in the vintage area comes by. So when PHINTAGE by Helen Yard opened around the corner I just had to go take a look. And guess what? It’s neat, orderly and the clothes are simply fantastic.

Mother & daughter

PHINTAGE was opened in early August by –surprise– Helen Yard and her daughter Sharon. This collaboration resulted in a two-sided store, with a more classic area in the front and a ‘younger’ area in the back, which is more focused on fashion. All pieces are hand-picked by the duo, which means they’re confident of every item they sell. And it shows.

Expect heavy boots, vintage Levis and comfy sweaters next to high heels, leather shorts, funky hats and sequin jackets

Having had a quick peek through the racks, it’s not surprising to hear that Sharon is also a stylist. The collection is relatively small but outstanding in quality, offering pieces for daytime as well as some night’s big bash. This means heavy boots, vintage Levis and comfy sweaters next to high heels, leather shorts, funky hats and sequin jackets. Items are one of a kind and therefore the collection changes frequently. Check it out for yourself, but I know I’ll be back – after all, it’s just around the corner.

A side note: before you do some vintage shopping, you can also book a styling appointment with Sharon herself. If you visit PHINTAGE in the next few weeks, you get a voucher for an hour of personal styling advice, for a mere 25 euros!
