Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Hercules & Love Affair Soundsystem @ Trouw

“Hercules and Love Affair – the name itself combines images of strength and vulnerability, masculinity and femininity, as well as a classic disco troupe. Strident beats but sweetness at the core. Music with a plan of attack but an identity as fluid as that of its creators. A gloriously burnished fusion of three decades of dance, from disco to house, acid to synth-pop, Derrick May to Giorgio Moroder (and let’s not forget Yazoo), but sounding like no other dance record before – or since.” This Friday at Trouw, supported by friends of the show Melon and Young Marco.

Friday: Lazy Sundays, Kreativ, Vlow @ Odeon

Three young and upcoming Amsterdam based organizations have joined forces to bring you a good old fashioned party ’till 9 in the morning. Who am I speaking of? Lazy Sundays, Kreativ and Vlow, all at the Odeon theatre featuring Agaric A.K.A. Patrik Skoog (SWE), Shifted (UK), Anonym (USA), Tom Ruijg (live), Camiel Daamen (live), Mispoes, Johanna Mercker, Microove, Reiss b2b Ferro, Kerk!, Bram Fidder, L’Atelier, Mulla b2b Mailman b2b Tijn Benedek and AM&I. Sounds like you want to get into some of this action if you don’t like to stop bouncing, I know there’s a lot of you Duracel bunnies out there.

Friday: Diepzinnig @ AIR

Last weekend brought Unicorns in AIR, this one has ‘lasercats’ all over the place. As you may have noticed, unicors and cats are the most important thing on the planet right now, next to triangles of course. This one has hipster deep house written all over it. The people who brought you Koekoek present you their new event called Diepzinnig featuring Catz ‘n Dogs, Hunter/Game, Franklin Reeves, Cat Carpenters (from space), Rue d’Alex and more. Definitely an interesting newcomer in the game, keep your eyes open for these guys, I heard they have some sweet plans for 2013.

Saturday: Weiter @ Paradiso

Oh yeah, a well anticipated one on Saturday. WEITER is Olivier Weiter’s new platform for self-expression. Expect an extra long, extremely dirty set from the shaman himself, and a sex, drugs & rock ‘n roll show you will never forget. Think Sin City and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas mashed in one. Support comes from his close mates Arjuna Schiks (live), Miss Melera, Some Chemistry, René Engel and John Wolff. Dresscode: no fancy shit, show some skin, and leave everything you can lose at home.

Saturday: Let #5 @ Amsterdam Studio’s

Finally, if you’re more of a warehouse raver, than this is your party. Les Enfants Terribles has an anniversary to celebrate with their fifth edition which will take place at Amsterdam Studio’s. For this special occasion they invited none other than techno rave heroes Surgeon from the UK and Eric Cloutier from the US. Of course, their hosts Jean Pierre Enfant and Viktor Palmer will also be present to set the tone for you. Don’t forget, this one goes on ’till 7 in the morning. Enough material to kill some serious brain cells this weekend. Hope it’s worth it Amsterdam.
