Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Zeezout with Wildkats, NOH @ Chicago Social Club
Our friends called Zeezout are back in town for another one of their famous get-togethers. This time it’s all about groovy, deep bass-lines with Wildkats from the UK. These guys have been releasing on Hot Creations and Get Physical. They also scouted some new house talent from Berlin called NOH (Nod Ones Head), a DJ duo with a female vocalist, which can only mean good. Of course, some of your favourite local residents like Hellie Berry, Larry de Kat, Marcel Vogel and Halve Soul will be present to shine behind the decks.
Friday: Paardenkracht presents: Horse Meets Disco @ AIR
“Always be yourself, unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn”. That’s the philosophy the girls of Paardenkracht have been following lately. Unicorns have become such an important part of their lives, that they decided to throw these rare species a party in AIR this Friday. Of course, strictly disco, all night. Starting with Vriendje van Ferry, Mikey Nice, Les Deux, SHMLSS, the Portuguese Social Disco Club and American disco all-star Jacques Renault. You might recall Jacques Renault if you attended Buiten Westen last summer, gotta love drunk guys behind DJ booths.
Saturday: Hifi Feat. The Field @ Trouw
Hifi is the indie night out in Trouw. From what I understood, this was supposed to be Trouw’s debut for Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, but they had to cancel. Luckily they got one of my favourite live producers to replace, The Field from Scandinavia. This electronic live band combines analogue instruments like guitars and drums with loops and synths. Can’t get enough of these guys. Of course, residents Patrice Bäumel and Nuno dos Santos will be hosting, playing and listening as well.
Saturday: 24 Hour Party People @ Studio 80
Finally, this Saturday from 11PM to 9 in the morning it’s serious party time! With personal favourite Ripperton and Funk D’Void as headliners. A 24 Hour Party People wouldn’t be the same without some a-list local heroes like Anton Pieete, Maher Daniel, Edwin Oosterwal, Sirena, Mulder and Studio 80’s own Bram Fidder. Start getting your energizers together folks. Oh yeah, before I forget, a special afterhour ticket for this one is 10 euro. Have a fantastic hangover.
