With only six weeks of 2012 left to go, the time has come that you need to make a pick for NYE. One fine option is Dazzleville, where the arrival of a new year is celebrated with a night festival on the NDSM Wharf in the always bubbling Amsterdam North. After a little push and tug with the council, Dazzleville received a final go and presents its line up for a NYE party you might be able to remember.

Musical amusements include Skip&Die, Delta Funktionen (DE), Guerrilla Speakerz, Walsh (UK), Job de Wit, Boeboe and many more. Contemplating travelling to the former wharf? Realize that Dazzleville isn’t a party for champagne nipping and wedged heels. Dazzleville requieres boots and warm jumpers. The industrial area is not a place for party lightweights, but thrill seeking adventurists. Two boats in the harbour form the rooms of the event, the dock itself is heated by fire barrels.

This year the dragon is burned in the ceremony.

Experience some coziness at midnight when 2013 is welcomed by an “oow” and “aaw” enhancing fire. Each year, at the midnight ceremony, a large wooden statue is lit. This piece of work resembles the sign of the Chinese horoscope of the year before. Therefore, this year the dragon is burned in the ceremony, hence the theme: burning the year of the dragon.

With different areas on the boats, docks, the wharf, warehouses and café Noorderlicht, there are parties going on everywhere. A total of fifty artists, bands, DJs, live acts and artists are programmed. The main focus is on electronic live acts, but there is also plenty of room for other styles like techno, disco, dubstep, world beat and rock ‘n roll. Feel adventurous? Want to break the cycle of endless house parties that are overpriced every year? Are you going to greet a new year of opportunity in an industrial surrounding and actually be surprised this NYE?
