Ridz, advertises, produces indie/electronic music, performs throughout the Netherlands but ultimately always ends up at an Amsterdam based ensemble... then he blogs about all these things.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: The Big Man Himself: Arjuna Schiks LIVE – all night long

If you’re from around the neighbourhood, you know Arjuna Schiks. It’s your favorite producer / hippie. His style lives on the outskirts of ambient and tech-house, though always with a distinctive melodic and energetic edge. This Friday the big man himself will be doing something very special, a live set, ALL NIGHT LONG! Support comes from some of his friends and colleagues such as Some Chemistry, Charles Davos, Zwaan, Olaf Stuut and Shimmer. Of course, a special occasion like this is sold out by now. Luckily there’ll be 200 tickets at the door, so be early.

Saturday: Voidd w/ Simon Baker, Betoko & 5 Years Kunstgeschwister @ Studio 80

On Saturday, Studio 80 is receiving German visitors presenting the finest of contemporary deep house featuring Simon Baker, Betoko, Raaf, Thyladomid and some members of the Kunstgeschwister collective. What is Kunstgeschwister? A group of people that’s been connecting art and music for five years now. To celebrate this, they’re touring around Germany & The Netherlands. To be specific, they’ll be hosting the second area of house temple Studio 80. Specially looking forward to Thyladomid on this one. See you there.

Sunday: Trouw op Zondag feat. Dixon, Barnt, Job Jobse

Dixon is the vice president of FC Magnet Mitte, owner of a bakery in Berlin, owner of Innervisions Recordings, a producer and a DJ. Dixon never lets you down. Dixon is kinda sexy in a way. Dixon likes to play deeply epic long sets. Dixon makes loads of subtle edits, but doesn’t produce a lot of own material. Dixon always play tracks I haven’t heard before yet. Dixon is soulmates with the duo Âme. Dixon runs Innervisions with them. Dixon’s favorite club in the Netherlands is Trouw. Last year Dixon cancelled his performance at A Night with Innervisions during ADE, I didn’t like that. Luckily, he likes to play here every few months, just like he will this Sunday, together with Barnt and resident Job Jobse. Do I sound like a groupie? Yes, but I know you are too.
