I think it was last winter that all of Amsterdam’s hipster divas (and a few extrovert divos) were trotting around in their fur coats, which they most probably bagged at the IJ-hallen. But I could be mistaken on which winter it was, as most females will now scream: “OMG, no way! I was already rocking that shit back in 2008. All those fur coat wannabes last year are such posers.” But I’m drifting off. What I should be telling you about is Superkoeien.
There’s a new fashion duo, Ven & Vogel. They’re coming out with a bang and that bang is an exploding cow. Superkoeien is a new line of unique shoes made from 100% cowhide, the hairy side (far much cooler than a fur coat). Starting with the cow, leading all the way up to the final shoes, the whole process takes place in Kenia. Apparently Kenia is cow country and their economy is pretty booming.
The Ven & Vogel boys believe in elegant functionalism, a strong statement that works. The photo shoot alone looks amazing, the works of the young and talented Ruben Duipmans. Get prepared for the official launch this Saturday at Amsterdam Roest. And to top it all off, to make a point that they know what they’re doing and providing you with the whole package…Milk Cocktails!
