Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: We Are E with Ewan Pearson @ Studio 80
To mark the end of the 2012 festival season and kick-start the series of events they’ll host during the coming club stretch We Are E invited one of their favourite artists to come and play for you this Friday. Let’s start with some serious name dropping: Alter Ego, Boys Noise, Pet Shop Boys, Hot Chip, Moby, Goldfrapp and Depeche Mode, just a small selection of the almost endless list of world famous artists who had their tracks remixed or redone by Ewan Pearson. This guy is back in town to shine behind the decks, supported by We Are E residents Terry Toner, Arjuna Schiks, Rauwkost and Frenk Wiersma. This one has classic night out written all over it.
Friday: De Nachtdivisie – Oktober @ Chicago Social Club
The fight against winter and its related depressions has begun. All the more reason to let go of the summer with a good and old fashioned house party at your favourite social club. As always, expect a handful of young and attractive residents such as SHMLSS, Tim & Ties, Lumière, Grythm, Rooiecol, L’Atelier & Daan de Boer. Don’t ever stop supporting your local scene!
Saturday: Club Night @ Trouw
As of the sixth of October, Trouw has got itself a brand new concept night. A night hosted by Makam, where this young demigod will lay down his vision on a true club night. A rough, sexy evening without too much conceptual fuss. The night is appropriately named Club Night. The slogan behind it is No Pussy Shit, a good indicator of where Makam wants the night to go. The BPM won’t stutter around 120, but will be pushed towards 130 and up. And where the DJs will easily cross every line imaginable, the crowd is left free to do the same. No screwing around. For this one, Dekmantel Soundsystem will lead the dance. Enjoy the hangover Amsterdam.
