Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Linke Soep @ Studio 80
Friday the weekend kicks off with none other than one of my personal heroes Dominik Eulberg, playing at Studio 80’s Linke Soep. This guy is an electronic music artist and DJ who has released numerous singles as well as full-length albums on labels such as Cocoon Recordings and Traum Schallplatten. He occasionally works as a park ranger in German National Parks, an occupation he plans to pursue full-time in the near future after retiring from music. Pretty unique huh? GZG’s Man Zonder Schaduw will be supporting him together with our friends from White Rabbit hosting the second area featuring Nhan Solo, Klaproos and resident Robert Ferdinand.
Friday: Life and Death @ Trouw
“Life and Death has a peculiar concept. The music in most cases hovers around a dark pop and house approach with a definite psychedelic sensibility. Soulful dance vibes with little pieces of a post-rock attitude. Not immediate dance floor bombs, but melodic tunes built around the concept of incorporating influences of Italian Cosmic Disco and UK/US New Wave and Indie heritage. And then without the intention of ‘reviving’ old sounds – instead creating new ones.” This Friday one of the founders, DJ Tennis, will be playing at your favourite club Trouw together with the label’s protagonists Clockwork. Don’t be a square!
Friday: Nachtritme presents Memoria and Friends @ Air
Together with our Amsterdam based friends of Nachtritme, the first edition of “Memoria and Friends” will take place in AIR Amsterdam. After many events in places like Ibiza, Barcelona, Milan and Berlin, they’re taking over our own party capital. Who are on the bill? Fabrizio Maurizi, Andrea Oliva, Egal 3, Timothy Watt and many more house music artists.
Friday: Schmeck Pony – Sputnik Spacers @ Westerunie
Schmeck Pony has been doing pretty well throughout the past year. The thing I like about these guys is their attention to bringing new international artists to this town that have been slightly underrated. With three areas filled with techno, progressive, neotrance and house, there’s something for almost every EDM lover. I’m especially looking forward to Guy J’s performance starting at 5am. Other performing artists are D-Formation, Hector Couto b2b Darius Syrossian, Olivier Weiter, Carlos Valdes, Erick Eerdhuizen and many more. Oh yeah, and this shindig goes on ’till 7am so get your energizers together!
Saturday: Night Flight x Boston Strip: Night Flight 2nd Year Anniversary @ Club Up
Night Flight has been going strong for 2 years now. Enough reason for a party with two real treats as a big thank you to all of their visitors: Veronica Vasicka and Jamie 3:26. Supporting them, expect the best from residents Jeroen Kok and Silvester. As usual, the other side will be hosted by their partners in crime Boston Strip, setting things off with the sweetest tunes in House, UK Bass, Dancehall & Garage. Remember to eat well, it helps with the hangover Amsterdam.
