Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: PRISMA @ Studio 80

PRISMA is futuristic, complex, artistic, idiosyncratic, triangular and deeply mysterious, just like you are. PRISMA is Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon being performed live by Trentemøller on XTC he got from James Holden. PRISMA is basically music from the future. A must for any cognoscente of the fusing and vivacious emo-electronica genre. The inauguration of PRISMA on June 29th was post-apocalyptic to say the least, with two fully occupied areas at Amsterdam’s electronica temple Studio 80. For the second edition on Friday, PRISMA invited none other than the legendary OXIA to hit the decks, which should be no stranger to house and techno fans. Also, Italian producer Spada (live), combining minimal percussion with an exciting melancholic sound that cuts through like a razor. This Ace of Spades has been releasing some seriously quality material recently. Lastly, expect the best of local cutting edge artists like Some Chemistry, Hauk ‘N Baum, La Vondèl and Sonurber.

Friday: Colors @ Trouw

Colors stands for house, bass, funky, techno, juke and other colors. For you bass music lovers it’s a proper start of the new clubbing season with none other than London-based friends of the show Oneman, Eliphino and of course your host Cinnaman. Get your sneakers, baseball caps and earplugs together ’cause Trouw’s Funktion 1 systems are ready to make your stomach feel funny.

Saturday: Komm Schon Alter @ Club Roses

Tired of dancing with underage students?! ‘Komm schon Alter‘ is a new dance initiative in Amsterdam for people of ages 24 and up. It hosts some innovative melodic techno DJs, like Boss Axis and Fabian Schumann. It also supports the Dutch sounds from Miss Melera and Some Chemistry. Experience a vibrant ambience with an older audience. IDs will be checked, so be warned kids. Oh yeah, and something about a special invitation if you become friends with them on Facebook. Check out their trailer too, it’s cool.

Saturday: Voidd @ Studio 80

Now this is something I call a classic party already. Berlin-like opening hours, deep house to the max featuring some very well received contemporary producing artists like Danny Daze, Chopstick & JohnJon and Tapesh. That’s right, this event doesn’t stop ’till 9am in the morning, so I suggest you get your sugar products together. Support comes from local heroes like Victor Coral, Kerk!, Micgroove, Raaf and Milan Meyberg. See you up front! Or in the back somewhere.. Hungover.
