Haven’t visited Magneet Festival yet? Shame on you! This means you obviously missed out on the completely sold-out special edition of Shoeless last week. And you also didn’t show up for the first edition of Amsterdamsch Verbond during the opening weekend. The least you can do is go the next edition of Amsterdamsch Verbond on Saturday September 8th, when local party planners Chasing the Hihat, Cartel, SubbaCultcha! x Paradiso, Funkyard and BandjeBandje head out to Zeeburgereiland.

Free State

Magneet Festival is a conglomeration of tents, bars, stages and knick knacks, squattered around on the sandy festival grounds. It’s been called a playground for adults, with not only music; you can hula-hoop, go on a expedition with Eddie the Eagle or call the other end of the field and meet strangers. In the middle, the large tent of the infamous Magneetbar points to the sky. Inside, parties climax every night when bands, DJs and acts hit the stages, as well as the crowds. This Saturday, you can lose yourself to a three way back 2 back session of Boris Werner vs Efdé vs Tom Ruijg (b2b2b), hosted by Bar 27.

Other stages are hosted by Chasing the Hihat, who invited Juan Sanchez and Tettero; Cartel, with DJs such as Jean Pierre Enfant, Tommy Kornuijt en Makcim; SubbaCultcha! x Paradiso, with bands such as Those Foreign Kids, Wolvon and Crowd; Funkyard, who invited Raheem (US) and BandjeBandje are present with live sets by Jonas Woehl (DE), Arjuna Schiks, Jason Lanox, Olaf Stuut, Some Chemistry, Sonurber and Mees Dierdorp.

Last year, Isis’ and Gijs Tettero’s collaboration led to one of the most epic festival days of the year, so it might not be wise to miss this one. Busy on Saturday? No problem, Magneet Festival is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday ’till September 16th. The closing night is celebrated with a large burn which is definitely worth your while.
