Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Summer Closing Weekend: A Field Day Night: Four Tet, Luke Abbott, Casper C @ Trouw

Trouw will be hitting sunny beaches around the globe this summer, so they’re closing up shop for the entire month of August. Needless to say they’ll be throwing a massive ‘Summer Closing Weekend’ celebration! First up on Friday is A Field Day Night, featuring the highly respected producer and my personal hero Four Tet, accompanied by Border Community protagonist Luke Abbott and Field Day resident Casper C. Expect the best of UK house and bass music, combined with a healthy dose of emo-electronica.

Friday: Nachtritme @ Air

New player in the game Nachtritme is ready to take over this town, starting with Rembrandtplein’s renowned club AIR. Nachtritme is a collective of four friends of ours; Timothy Watt, Maya J, Watt Jr & Joija. Together they have rocked at several Next Monday’s Hangover parties. This time around they step it up a notch and set up this event in AIR, featuring Hermanez (BE), Ultrasone (BE), Massimo Girardi (BE) and our local heroes El Mundo & Satori. I expect nothing but the best of contemporary house music for the soul.

Saturday: Electronation 10 Year Anniversary . The Final Edtion @ Paradiso

This Saturday July 28 will mark the end of an era: the last Electronation party ever, in our pop temple. Because this day is also the 10 year anniversary of what has become one of the most legendary party organizations of Holland, the finale should be celebrated in style: All 3 rooms of Paradiso will be packed to the rafters with Holland’s finest from the electro, disco, house and techno scene, consisting of a long line of friends who’ve contributed in one way or another to Electronation’s success. On top of this, this happening’s full profit will go to the fight cancer initiative, in honor of Electronation’s founder Roy Avni who passed away in 2010. The line-up is disturbingly awesome with The Hacker [FR], Shinedoe, Alden Tyrell [Live], Egbert [Live], Anton Pieete, Benny Rodrigues, Olene Kadar [Live], Terry Toner vs Herr Arter, Joost van Bellen, Orgue Electronique [Live], 540 Soundsystem [Nuno Dos Santos, Patrice Baumel & Darko Esser], Bart Skils, Mason, Arjuna Schiks [Live] and many many many many many more.

Sunday: Summer Closing Weekend: Trouw op Zondag @ Trouw

Well, this will be the grande finale party of Trouw for this season. The cool thing about this Sunday’s festivity is that they are flying in the legendary DJ Harvey. This guy wasn’t allowed to leave the US for a long time due to some of his guilty pleasures, but that has come to an end. He’ll be supported by Trouw’s loyal residents Melon, San Proper, Tom Trago, Cinnaman, William Kouam Djoko and Boris Werner. This has Monday headaches written all over it, but it’s probably more than worth it. Enjoy the hangover Amsterdam!
