Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: PRISMA @ Studio 80

Oh yeah, gotta love the new party in town, with a fresh approach towards sound and experience. What is PRISMA exactly? Nobody really knows. In optics, a prism or prisma is a transparent element with flat, polished surfaces that refract light. Its traditional geometrical shape is triangular. Furthermore, PRISMA is futuristic, complex, artistic, idiosyncratic and deeply mysterious, just like you are. PRISMA is Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon being performed live by Trentemoller on XTC he got from James Holden. A must for any cognoscente of the fusing and vivacious emo-electronic genre. With none other than Spanish maestro Henry Saiz and my favourite French newcomer N’to (live) making their debuts at the legendary Studio 80. Support comes from local heroes 10dens (live), La Vondèl (live) and your host Some Chemistry. Be there, don’t be a square!

Friday: Seth Troxler & Live at Robert Johnson @ Trouw

Good old Seth Troxler is back in town people. Seth Troxler is, well, Seth Troxler. Visionquest’s protagonist, known for his fine selection of house and techno with a constant barrage of vocal jams. No need to spend any extra words explaining who this guy is, he’ll be doing his thing all night long. More interesting though, is the support for the night at de Verdieping: ‘Live at Robert Johnson – Come on in my Kitchen Tour’ featuring Lauer live, Gerd Janson and Ata. Just to be clear: Robert Johnson is a record label from Frankfurt, it’s somehow affiliated to Kompakt. To put some of their artists in the spotlights, they put together a tour. Now you know. I’d advice you to go have a look during Gerd Janson, who’s known to be a pleasant surprise at some of the events in the past year.

Saturday: The House Of God @ HEM Kelder

The only reason I’m tipping this party is I get excited whenever Efdemin hits this city. Luckily, he does this often enough, like he will this Saturday at the new rave palace called the HEM Kelder. Not sure how long this location will still be around, but as long as it works it works. Cool thing about this event is that they didn’t ask 10 different DJs to gain as many visitors as possible. Their tagline says a lot: back to basic, long sweaty sets by top notch house DJs. We support this. In the meantime, listen to one of minimal techno’s classic tunes.

Saturday: Het Alternatief @ Club Home

Two very active party organizations in town joined forces to throw a spectacular all-nighter, one that will last for more than 12 hours. I just wish this wasn’t such a unique thing around here. Anyway, I amtechno and Schmeck Pony present Luke Creed, Deepbass (UK), Harde Baas, Audiowomb, Paul Cairo B2B Paul Laurens, Warren Fellow, Brand Live, Timothy Watt, Alex Supertramp and more. Sounds like the perfect after-hour get-together after a long day of standing in the mud at Awakefest. Only 7,50 for 13 hours of fistpumping, sounds like a deal to me. Have a fantastic hangover Amsterdam.
