Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: XXX @ AIR

The ‘XXX‘ says it all. An Amsterdam based party featuring local heroes playing music for local heroes. Fresh Amsterdam based party organizations Nine 2 Nine Music & Nachtritme invite Melon, William Kouam Djoko, Terry Toner, Ici Sans Merci, Timothy Watt, Some Chemistry, La Vondel and more. To make it even more interesting, our friend Timothy Watt will be using this occasion to celebrate his birthday in AIR2. Time to get jiggy wit’ it.

Saturday: Koekoek Live @ Paradiso

Koekoek has been throwing some pretty nice events over the past year, most of which have been selling out as I understand. For this occasion they invited live acts only to Paradiso’s main stage, with none other than Canadian superstar collective Cobblestone Jazz (Mathew Jonson, Danual Tate & Tyger Dhula) in the headlining role. Actually, since they only perform like once a year, this will be a debut for them in our pop temple. This formation will be supported by local heroes such as Olene Kadar Live, Roger Martinez Live, Arjuna Schiks Live and Spaventi Live. Upper area hosted by Ici Sans Merci with Quentin van Honk, Wub and Verdi. Damn, can you imagine all the vintage Rolands, laptops, microphones, fenders, sequencers and software? See you up front during the legendary Cobblestone Jazz ensemble.

Saturday: Agoria @ Trouw

Innervision’s new weapon from Lyon will be hitting our town for an all-nighter, just the thing Innervisions DJ’s are good at. Expect the best of contemporary deep and rhythmic house at deep house temple Trouw. There’s not much more to elaborate on this, except the new policy Trouw introduced with their reduced prices at the door before midnight (€8). Let’s hope this motivates you to really go check this guy out, this man has never let me down.

Sunday: Evotions Presents: Cocoon Heroes on the Docks @ Undercurrent

Extrawelt! One of the first acts that really got me into minimal techno back in the day. These guys have been making music and touring for a while, and even though I’ve seen them occasionally in the past three years, I still get excited when I read their name on a flyer. Plus, this event is taking place at a cool location on a Sunday, which is always a plus for me. And not to forget, some other personal heroes of mine such as Chymera, Arjuna Schiks, Olivier Weiter will be supported them together with the one and only Frank Lorber. Area 2 hosted by de Zorgenkindjes.

Sunday: Trouw op Zondag: Soul Clap & Tom Trago @ Trouw

Finally, Trouw invites Wolf+Lamb’s hipster protagonists Soul Clap for their Trouw on Sunday. Soul Clap has had an extremely successful year after releasing their full length album and playing all over the globe. Earlier this year they sold out this venue, let’s see if they can manage to take you with them on their a musical spaceship of dopeness again. Support comes from one of our well known export products Tom Trago. One thing’s for sure, the hangover won’t be pretty on Monday Amsterdam.
