We’ve all heard of Ruigoord, but how many of us have ever manned up and made our way out there? Who dares step out of the ring to explore the true cultural limits Amsterdam’s fine folk have set out? The Amsterdam most of us know is so small and cramped, we need places to spread out a bit and vent our frustrations. Think Blijburg, think Pand14, think VLLA; and don’t even think of skipping Ruigoord.

With a full day and night programme stashed out to soothe everyone’s senses, this seems like the ideal weekend escape.

I’d like to (literally) translate Ruigoord as Rough Resort; it just seems to fit. A free spirited hideout set on the outskirts of industrial Amsterdam. The hidden village surrounded by lush environment, consists of two crossroads that meet at the infamous Ruigoord church. However, I should confess that I have never been there myself…yet. See June 23rd, there’ll be a gathering that All is One is organizing together with the community of Ruigoord’s inhabitants. With a full day and night programme stashed out to soothe everyone’s senses, this seems like the ideal weekend escape.

Interaction is key at Ruigoord, so lose the suit and open your mind. This is the place where the original Dutch hippie culture has survived for the past 40 years. There are percussion workshops, live painters, theatre performances, DJ’s; the works. If you want to put on a show yourself or build a work of art, just send an email to info@allisone.nl.
