Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Straf_werk Invites DJ T @ Westerunie
Amsterdam’s deep house innovators Straf_Werk are back for a another round of fine disco, deephouse en techhouse. And with a cracking line-up once again. After bringing David August, Oliver Koletzki, Tale of Us, H.O.S.H. and none other than Some Chemistry, they have now booked house legend DJ T together with Crosstown Rebels’ Russ Yallop. Of course these heavy players will be supported by young local talents: Marckus & Rue d’Alex and HAARBAARBAAR. Beware to get ‘punished’ after attending though, things tend to get nasty at these events.
Friday: De Nachtdivisie met Clockwork @ Chicago Social Club
Every first Friday of the month the Chicago Social Club is taken over by De Nachtdivisie. A collective of up and coming DJ/producers from Amsterdam that represent the contemporary house grooves and deep sounds of our town. Of course, every edition has its own theme, this time it’s basically ‘Clockwork’. Clockwork as in the Italian duo, also members of the renowned collectives named Life & Death and Hot Creations. Supported comes from Nachtdivisie residents Terry Toner & Prunk, KERK!, Tijn Benedek & Mailman, Arturo Frizzante & Grythm, Martin Bell & Mike Melchiot. Support your local scene!

Friday: Midnight Freaks invites The Martinez Brothers @ AIR
I assume Midnight Freaks had a pretty nice outdoor edition for their party at Amsterdam Open Air. This Friday, the move back into their favourite club to shine during the Midnight hours with the almighty funky house duo Martinez Brothers, all the way from New York city. Supporting the two Americans expect local heroes such as Tom Ruijg, Lilith, Ferro, RAAF, Jeebs and Tim Hoeben to shine behind the decks. House purists of Amsterdam, this might be your best bet on Friday.
Friday: Bar27 @ Studio 80
We recently featured a pretty cool interview with the men behind Bar27 in support of their stage hosting at our festival Buiten Westen with their Circus Wunderbar concept. I can recommend you to read that to understand what they stand for, both musically and creatively. This Friday they’re throwing another party at the renowned electronica venue Studio 80 featuring techno pioneer Shlomi Aber from Israel. Representing Bar27, their residents Eke Evi & Erin will complete the main room with together with Woodstock 69’s Daan Donk. Second area is hosted by Hideout. Oh man, we’re still on Friday aren’t we?
Saturday: Vliegangst @ Secret
Finally, there’s basically only one real party to lookout for on Saturday. That is, if you feel like getting away from the club scene and moving into the more underground side of Amsterdam. Yes, featuring Harde Baas from Groningen, Dutch Techno Award nominee Jurwin Abbo (live), morgen.am resident Ferdinand, Kuhlschrank, Boys Off, Thomas Vinke, Ruttenbergs (live), Paul Cairo, Stuurloos and lots of balloons! This party is pretty much sold out digitally, but I heard there’ll be some tickets left at the door so you might want to be there early and bring some energizers with you. Have an epic hangover Amsterdam!
