Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: We Are E with Nhar & Patrice Baumel @ Studio 80
Nhar has to be one of my greatest electronica discoveries of the recent past. If you haven’t heard about this Cologne based DJ and producer, chances are you will very soon. Linked to the worldwide respected brand Kompakt, this producer is known for his warm and almost progressive-like productions, DJ sets and live shows. With his strong progressions, sensual pads and a deep overall feeling, Nhar will be in town on Friday at the infamous Studio 80 to demonstrate all this musicality. The cool thing about this one, is that omy own little label morgen.am, will be hosting the second area with Some Chemistry (me), La Vondel and Terry Toner. Support for Nhar in the Studio 1 comes from local heroes Olivier Weiter and Patrice Baumel, three cheers for this programme!
Friday: Pampa Meets Dial @ Trouw
This Friday, Trouw invites two of Hamburg’s most important electronica heroes: DJ Koze and Lawrence back to back all night long! So why is this night called Pampa Meets Dial? Simple, Pampa is Koze’s own label and Dial is Lawrence’s label. These two guys have both been linked with the highly regarded Kompakt label in the recent past, this shows how musically aware and connected the two men are. If you’re into music from the future, this night is probably your best bet on Friday.
Saturday: Cobra & Mood Invite Cosmin TRG // Serge & More @ Undercurrent
COBRA stands for ‘Collaboration of Bright and Rare Acts’. A platform for ‘underground’ house and techno artists. This time around they’ve gathered a nice list of DJs together with Mood. How about Berlin based house DJ Cosmin TRG, Serge from Rotterdam, Dario Zenker from Munich and ESHU from Nijmegen. And representing our own scene: Jaime Frias, Alex Supertramp and Jean Pierre Enfant. I heard there’s a lot of buzz around this event so you might want to secure a ticket before they run out.
Sunday: Trammeland @ De Amsterdamsche Tram
Trammeland is a tech and house party beneath Amsterdam’s Sloterdijk station. The previous editions have been received successfully, and that’s why they’re doing it again this Sunday. If you like to rave, listen to warm tech-house music and like to kill your hangover on a Sunday by partying on this one is basically a must for you. Is the line-up for such an event even important? Not really, but in case you do care: Mike Ravelli, Alex Supertramp, True Identity and many more. Final fun fact, these guys have been nominated as best new party in Amsterdam for the upcoming Dutch Techno Awards. Enjoy the hangover!
