Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Saturday: Bla Bla with Minilogue Live @ Studio 80
Minilogue is a Swedish progressive house/techno music duo. The name is a portmanteau of minimal (the musical style) and dialogue, which refers to music as a form of communication. I’ve been a big fan of theirs ever since I started listening to artists such as Booka Shade, Paul Kalkbrenner and Gui Boratto. They’ve been known to play extra long ‘live’ sets, as they will do this Saturday at Studio 80 for two hours! Support comes from Bla Bla chief Daniel Sanchez, Aike, Niles Dickson, El Mundo & Satori, Massier, Joop Junior and a special Mystery Guest. End time: 09:00!
Saturday: Hootenanny @ Club Home
A rebirth for this party. To be specific, four up and coming organizations from this town decided it was time for another collab. Voorwaarts, Boem Tak, Meergranen (Wildkamperen) and Bar Mitswag present ‘Hootenanny‘. Expect a decent amount of energy supported by deep-house, tech-house and techno music brought to you by artists like Trish Former Friends, Hauk ‘n Baum, David Hülsmann, Rauwkost and Francesco Robustelli amongst others.
Sunday: De Verdieping op Zondag @ Trouw
Nothing better than a proper Sunday session with the deep sounds of Berlin. Especially if the Monday after it is a free one. This Sunday Trouw invites Steffi (OstGut Ton, Berlin) and Efdemin (Dial, Berlin) + special guests. Steffi has a special place in the heart of Amsterdam; nowadays she’s taking over Berlin with her DJ skills, label and parties. Efdemin on the other hand, produced one of my all time favourite tracks ‘Bergwein‘. Ever since I heard this, I’ve being following the man and he’s never let me down.
Sunday: I amtechno presents Boris Brejcha @ Undercurrent
After more than a year of absence, Boris Brejcha is back in our town! Boris Brejcha’s progressive musical development has made him a constant favourite in today’s club scene. No existing kind of music could describe his style, so he decided to create his own genre: “high-tech minimal”. Unfortunately this special event won’t be taking place in a warehouse as I amtechno intended, but the Undercurrent is a nice replacement. Did I mention this will be the official after for the Secret Garden Festival? See you there Amsterdam.
Sunday: Secretsundaze IN Studio 80 + Secretsundaze Rooftop Party at Studio 80
The almighty London-based organization Secretsundaze is coming to our town to throw a party featuring none other than the American house legend Chez Damier. As if this wasn’t enough, there’ll be a secret rooftop party in advance, somewhere very close to the Studio 80 with a view over all of Amsterdam. Supporting Chez: James Priestley (UK), San Proper, Tom Ruijg, Daan Groeneveld and Tijn Benedek. Only a limited amount of tickets available for the rooftop pre-party, but tickets will give you accesa to Studio 80 at night also! Get very high Amsterdam.
