Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Horse Meets Disco @ Air

Oh yeah, this Friday it’s time for the debut of a new disco party in town. What started out as a photo booth at festivals and events, turned into a disco extravaganza in one of Amsterdam’s most extravagant clubs. For this colourful get-together the enthusiastic duo behind Horse Meets Disco decided to fly over none other than disco heroes Horse Meat Disco. Enough with the melbourne shuffle, stop the fistpumping and just take your girl out to dance with you. Support comes from Palmbomen, SHMLSS, Halve Soul. Vriendje van Ferry is hosting the second area. Prepare to get jiggy wit it.

Friday: Colors X Swamp 81 @ Trouw

Swamp 81 is a renowned UK bass record label from London that has brought you artists like Loefah and Boddika, who will both be hitting the decks this Friday at Color’s next thrilling event in Trouw. As you might know, Colors stands for house, bass, funky, techno, juke and other colours. Of course, their most important resident Cinnaman will not remain absent and to complete this feast, Den Haag based 751 will finalize the bill. I can feel basslines dropping in my stomach already.

Wanna join in on the fun? Drop us your favourite bass driven track as a commenton this post on our Facebook wall to win 2×2 tickets for this event. Winners announced on Friday around noon.

Friday: Kreativ 1 Year Anniversary @ CSC

Kreativ is, well, a creative platform and booking agency that has been around for about a year now. To celebrate the past year of networking with photographers, designers, illustrators, film makers and DJs they’re throwing a party at the cosy Chicago Social Club. For the occasion, they’ve invited Flashmob from Italy and our local heroes Boris Werner and Beesmunt Soundsystem. The Bar will feature our friends L’Atelier, De Sluwe Vos, Tijn Benedek and Pascal Benjamin. Go cheer for their anniversary and expand your creative network Amsterdam.

Friday: Symphonica Elektronica @ klinch, Melkweg

You might have heard of Symphonica Elektronica as being a new festival from Utrecht, or from the very cool 5 minute rave they organized close to Utrecht’s Central Station last year. This time around, they’re throwing a special showcase at our pop temple Melkweg to get in the mood for the second edition of their festival. What can we expect? Slagsmålsklubben, Felix Martin (from Hot Chip) with a DJ set, Homework, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra, Eric de Man, SHMLSS and Maarten Pordon. Not the least of line-ups in Amsterdam right? go support!

Saturday: Visionquest & Voyage Direct @ Trouw

Visionquest is one of the most successful collaborations and labels of the past year in the electronic music industry. Featuring its members Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Bill Patrick, they’ll be sure to provide you with the best of contemporary deep house music all night long this Saturday at Trouw. One floor below, Tom Trago’s ‘Voyage Direct’ will feature William Kouam Djoko live, Awanto 3, and Tom Trago himself. Be sure to wear you triangular low-cut T-shirt and shave the sides of your head for this one.

Saturday: De Nachtspelen 11 – Zomereditie 2012 @ Westerunie

Finally, get your most colourful leggings and wristbands out of the closet because it’s time for the 11th edition of the ‘Nachtspelen’. This time around it’s all about the origins of sports and challenges that have been around throughout the whole world thanks to the Greeks all the way back in Olympia 776 years BC. So get your Ceasar and Cleopatra outfits ready ’cause this will turn into another night of healthy mayhem throughout four stages featuring Cinnaman, Thomas Martojo, Daniel Sanchez, Olivier Weiter, and, yes, wait for it, your favourite MC Dries Roelvink! Have a nice weekend!
