Queen’s Day in Amsterdam is a unique night and day carnival-like event. Each year the festivities during this event invite locals and up to 800,000 visitors alike to soak up Amsterdam’s open-air fun. In the streets, canals, parks and everywhere in between, the city is bursting with orange as Amsterdammers enjoy the biggest street party of the year. Of course, all party organizations around this town have to participate and show the rest of the world what they have to offer. I amtechno for example, is one of the serious candidates throwing events on both Queen’s Night and Day.

Queen’s Night @ Hem Hotel

On Sunday the 29th of April I amtechno will take you to into their underground rave located at the basement of the Hem Hotel. For this night of raw underground techno they invited two Swedish techno superstars, Joel Mull & Kimono, to shine behind the decks. Mull’s musical understanding goes beyond the traditional primal dancefloor dynamics often associated with techno and his career has been moving upwards since 1993. Kimono on the other hand will see his Dutch debut for this special event. Also, two of Richie Hawtin’s protegees Joop Junior (LIVE) & Joran Van Pol will share the stage with the rest of I amtechno’s residents Ici Sans Merci, Keith Carnal and Zoutman (LIVE). But wait, there’s more. As if this wasn’t enough, our friends of Korrekt Unikorn will be hosting the second area with their own talented group of disk jockeys. Don’t forget there’s another party awaiting you the next day though.

Queen’s Day @ Hotel Arena

On Queen’s Day around 8pm, when you think it’s all over, I amtechno continues their saga with another bewildering line-up at Hotel Arena. To complete the Queen’s Day festivities you’ll be treated to a 3 hour set by last year’s USA based breakthrough act DVS1 and local legend Steve Rachmad with another 2 hours of raw techno. Main area will be opened by Jean Pierre Enfant and Gloom & Dispar Vulgo, second area will be hosted by our friends of Misc Agency with their protagonists Mike Ravelli, Milo Moraes & Freddy Spool. Yes people, you better take that Tuesday off ’cause this has a fistpumping hangover written all over it.
