Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Wednesday: 5 Days Off | Day 1 @ Melkweg

5 Days Off 2012 kicks off the week with a promising line-up for a Wednesday in Amsterdam. As it should. Main dish on the menu: SBTRKT. 2011 was SBTRKT’s year. By mixing dubstep, 2-step and Chicago house the London based musician and producer Aaron Jerome has developed a whole new music style and he is performing at many sold-out venues worldwide. Other artists on this night are Koreless, influenced by oldschool jungle music, Austrian beat conducter Dorian Concept, garage/hiphop master Falty DL, Swedish ambient techno DJ The Field, Grote Prijs award winner Presk and last but not least, the, according to Jackmaster, rising talent Redinho`.

Thursday: 5 Days Off | Day 2 @ Paradiso

The second day of 5 Days Off in Paradiso brings us a long night filled with uplifting raw beats by The Gaslamp Killer, Hudson Mohawke, Kutmah, and rising Dutch DJ/producers Jameszoo and Krampfhaft. The Gaslamp killer needs no introduction, this one man show can make a crowd go wild by just shaking his hair around. Hudson Mohawke turned out to be one of the biggest UK revelations of last year, with his bass driven experimental sound. A must see for fans of futuredub, and we’re just talking about a Thursday!

Friday: The Big Man Himself @ Chicago Social Club

The duo Catz ‘N Dogz will hit Chicago Social Club’s main stage to kick off a new concept brought to you by Pleinvrees and NGHTDVSN: The Big Man Himself. An all-night-long solo night dedicated to extra long storytelling sets by international DJs. For this first occasion, Catz ‘N Dogz will play from 11pm to 5am. Known for personal favourites like Lovers Carvings, I’m Free and their new release Professor Nice Love. See you up front.

Saturday: BOB: Bewust OnBewust @ Club Lite

BOB is the ideal playground for modern hippies, hipsters, hedonists, purists and music lovers. Last time was a great success. Besides the good live music, I really enjoyed drinking coca tea and getting my mind read by a fortune-teller whilst surrounded by Arabic cushions. This time around they invited another dumpload of live acts: Rauwkost, El Mundo & Satori (live debut), La Vondel, Some Chemistry and Hauk ‘n Baum. Getting high on natural stimulating products and waking up with no hangover has never felt so nice.

Saturday: Voidd – Wildlife Legends @ Studio 80

Finally, to close off another great weekend (unless you’re going to Gui Boratto’s sold out show in Paradiso on Sunday) filled with international electronica heroes, there is Kollektiv Turmstrasse performing in Studio 80. One of my favourite producing acts of the last five years. These guys a closely affiliated to Diynamic’s label and have produced and remixed numerous electronica anthems for artists like MANDY and Booka Shade. It’s nice to be able to see these guys in action at an intimate venue. Support comes from none other than Till von Sein (Suol, DE) touring around to promote his new album and local heroes Homework, Bram Fidder and Daan Groeneveld. Really looking forward to this party, see you in the weekend Amsterdam!
