Yes, it’s Oscar time again! On February 26th, the Academy will make public which director, actors and films win the coveted golden men. Het Parool and Cineville are both organizing their own Oscar events for Amsterdam’s film fans. Make sure you visit one of these, but choose wisely!

Pathé de Munt vs. De Balie

Next Saturday and Sunday, Pathé De Munt has programmed all the films that are nominated for an Oscar. For €25 you’ll have a whole day full of films like Drive, The Iron Lady and The Artist. A great chance to see all the cinema highlights of the year in one go!

Cineville offers another Oscar experience in De Balie. At ten ‘O clock Monsieur Lazhar will be showing, one of the films that is nominated for best foreign language film and it hasn’t been showed in the Netherlands yet. After that their will be a film quiz, followed by a live broadcast of the Oscar ceremony, which will take until six in the morning (so drink a lot of coffee!). All this will cost you only €8. I see no reason not to go. If you don’t have to work on Monday, that is.
