Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Welcome To The Future – 18 Years Anniversary @ Studio 80
Moon Harbor protagonist Matthias Tanzmann, label mate Boris Werner and Welcome to the Future resident Dorine Dorado are set to rock Studio 80’s socks off for WTTF’s 18th anniversary feast. Yes, the infamous party concept slash summer festival has been around providing us with the best of underground dance music for eighteen years already. No better reason to celebrate this Friday. Second area will be hosted by No Way Back featuring Young Marco (Rush Hour) and Juju & Jordash (Rush Hour). Good start of the weekend.
Friday: Burn! with Hector Moralez // Pete Bandit & Jason Shae @ Chicago Social Club
I could not elaborate on this event better than our friend Pete Bandit and his mate behind the decks Jason Shae: “We have been o so active over the last year; playing, producing, eating and breathing the pure jackin’ house. Our signature sound, with its roots deep in the early nineties’ Chicago house, could not have found a better home than the Chicago Social Club.” For the inauguration of the new club night they’re flying in underground bay area house legend Hector Moralez. Support comes from Aike & Dickson, Larry de Kat and Josi und Rupert. This night will make you forget it was ever zero degrees outside.
Saturday: New Babylon Invites Culprit @ Studio 80
This Saturday, Studio 80 and New Babylon will be hosting a Culprit orientated night featuring today’s hottest sounding artists MANIK (Hot Creations, Culprit, NYC) and Droog (Crosstownrebels, Culprit, LA). Of course this requires our local house heroes Presetone (ONNO & Victor Coral), Prunk (Kingstreet Records) and Marcus Gehring (Upon. You) to carry the hipster carriage. This should turn out to be a hell of a night around the streets of Rembrandtplein.
Saturday: Paf @ Trouw
Late Night Society’s Paf & Vassallo will be hosting a new event called ‘Paf‘ in Trouw this Saturday. For the occasion they invite none other than Makam, William Kouam Djoko, Tom Ruijg, Tettero and Job Jobse. This means only locals only, without any loss of qualitative music. Specially Makam and Djoko have really got it going for themselves at the moment. Anyway, this should be a great pre-party for what is bound to happen on Sunday at Trouw…
Saturday: De Raad van 11 @ Trouw
Yes my friends. Usually we refuse to celebrate carnival above the rivers in the Netherlands. Except for this one particular party that originates from the legendary Club 11. As a tradition all the usual suspects behind the decks at 11 and Trouw throughout the years get their 15 minutes of fame to trash the place with your favourite underground carnival anthems. Basically, it’s just carnival Amsterdam style featuring Aron Friedman, Bart Skills, Boris Werner, Brent Roozendaal, Carlos Valdes, Cinnaman, Darko Esser, Eric de Man, Job Jobse, Julien Chaptal, Lauhaus, Makam, Melon, Nuno dos Santos, Olaf Boswijk, San Proper, Sandrien, Tom Ruijg, Kabale und Liebe and William Kouam Djoko. That’s right, hammer time!
