SIS by Spijkers and Spijkers, who doesn’t know them? It is one of those shows that everybody wants to attend and boy did everybody attend! In a crowded Salon we were presented with the 12/13 collection. A short film clip opened the show and French music started to play in the background. The first model came out and the inspiration immediately became clear: the era of Bonny and Clyde. The couple who committed crimes in the 30’s but did so in style.

Bonny and Clyde

Real girly girls walked strongly across the catwalk in the collection that was as much Bonny as it was Clyde. Sleek jackets, pants and barrettes made it Clyde; printed dresses, low necklines, peach and intense blue colours made it Bonny. They did what only they do best; making clothing ultra feminine. Complete with long wavy hair, this time not so smooth and shiny, which was refreshing and goes with the somewhat rougher look.

I know it’s about the clothes but what I loved the most where the Mary Jane-ish shoes with the cute socks! We have seen it many times before but somehow it caught my eye this time. It worked amazingly with the girly print dresses and suit inspired pieces. I will be trying out that preppy look soon. The big knitted vest that looked so comfortable and oh so homey, it’s a piece I could be the proud owner of. I would wear it all day, every day and even go to sleep in it.

Simple, elegant, feminine and with a twist to it is what the show was. A combination that seems to be a winner every time.
