Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Thursday: Cassette Collectief @ Club Up

Every two months our dear friends of Cassette Collectief throw a party at their cosy HQ called Clup Up. This Thursday it is time to kick off the weekend-vibe with them again. Of course, they’ll be sticking to what they’re best at: creating an authentic vibe by mixing jazz, lots of bass and deep house music, provided by residents Marcel Vogel, Bert de Rooij, Simon Weiss and Caspar van Onsbrons. Get in before midnight and you only pay 5 euros. DIRT CHEAP!

Friday: Electric Deluxe #12 @ Melkweg

Electric Deluxe host Speedy J is at his best if you leave him to himself for a few hours. Together with a thousand others that is. The techno producer from Rotterdam will pull an all-nighter on January 27 in the big room in Melkweg while switching between DJing and playing live. For this twelfth edition, he invited none other than Paris based Paul Ritch, American sensation DVS1, Dutch techno wonder-boy ROD and Dekmantel head honcho Thomas Martojo. Even if you’re not that into hard techno like me, this party has good music written all over it for any electronica lover.

We want to share the wealth with you by giving away 2×2 tickets for this one. Just comment with your favourite techno song of the moment on this post on our facebook page and we might grant you a very nice guest list spot for you and a friend, BAM!

Friday: Bla Bla – 5 Year Anniversary Weekender – Day 2 @ Studio 80

Yes people, BLA BLA, one of Amsterdam’s most important electronic music record labels is celebrating its 5th year of existence! For the occasion they get to host a whole weekender at their home territory Studio 80. From Thursday to Saturday. My advice: go on Friday. Why? Extrawelt live! Haven’t seen those guys play in such an intimate setting recently. Support comes from label owner Daniel Sanchez’s big brother Juan Sanchez, El Mundo & Satori, Johanna Mercker and Dorine Dorado.

Friday: New Kanada @ Trouw

“The Canadian Cavalry is coming to town”. This collective of modern electronica is inspired by the colours red, yellow and orange. Don’t ask me why, but they have their own label showcase here in Amsterdam this Friday featuring the one and only Canadian electronica superstar Mathew Jonson live! Furthermore, The Mole and Adam Marshall are also representing New Kanada. If you have no idea who these weird Canadians are, have a look at this interview. See you up front!

Friday: Abnormaal Lokaal @ Sugar Factory

After the pretty successful first edition during Christmas, Abnormaal Lokaal is back in Leidseplein’s Sugar Factory with a new line-up made up out of women-only. That’s right! A protest against Amsterdam’s men dominated night life. Expect the best of tech-house, minimal & techno provided by our city’s favourite chicks behind the decks Miss Melera, Mirella Kroes, Delicatesse and Jenny Thronaes. Expect crazy visuals and unusual decorations; this won’t be your ordinary club night. Support your local scene!

Saturday: Backstage @ Chicago Social Club

Hipster party! Larse, Noir Music’s new sensation on dance floors around Europe is headlining the monthly event this time. If you’re one of those people that likes everything that Solomun does, I can almost guarantee you that you will like Larse too. If you’re going to visit some Fashion Week events this week, this might be the most fitting afterparty for you. Support comes from Victor Coral & Chris Julien and the Knuckleduster Agency hosts the small area. No cameras allowed!

Sharing is caring!
