We’ve seen revolutions worldwide, people getting into the streets to fight for their rights. In the Western world, it sometimes seems that we really have nothing left to fight for. It all seems downgraded to questions on finance, the state of the economy and your hard-earned pensions. But what about artists? In Holland, the political climate is now tending towards spending on jet fighters and cutting back on culture.

We need a revolution

On January the 26th, De Balie in Amsterdam will host an evening filled with questioning, talk, music and art in order to find out what the artists of our generation are talking about. What do they stand for, what do they fight for? In collaboration with VPRO Dorst and sixty artists in total, the evening will be filled with pure inspirational visions on what’s happening right now in the art world and what the future holds for us all.

Expect spoken word poetry, questionnaires trying to find out if you’re a hipster (let us pray you’re not), a Fools Army demonstrating the enticing ways of clowns, why we need artists, not armies and video, radio, TV and photography by VPRO DORST, Club Interbellum and Radio Romantiek.

‘Where’s the revolution?’ At de Balie, one of the foremost institutions in Amsterdam that still offers a platform for cultural initiatives.
