Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Format: Juan Sanchez Invites Sandwell District, Flipse, Delicatesse.. @ AIR
FORMAT, the one and only techno party in AIR every second Friday of the month. They’ve been throwing these parties for over a year featuring the best of worldwide techno-heads. This time around they’re bringing over a protagonist in the underground techno scene: Sandwell District. Even though I’m personally not into hard techno, Sandwell District has added an extra musical element to the genre which I can appreciate. Of course, Juan Sanchez will be hosting the night and also invited local techno hero Flipse. Second AIRea will have Delicatesse playing all night long!
Saturday: Balance feat. Deetron @ Trouw
With just over a week into 2012, Trouw is pampering us already with a very nice producer: Deetron, known for his very successful 2011 anthem Starblazer. If you haven’t seen this guy yet I can recommend getting to know him better, you’re gonna hear more of him this year, that’s for sure. To complete this night, Trouw invited Rotterdam’s nightlife representative Serge. I’m guessing extra long sets, nice.
Saturday: Backstage @ Chicago Social Club
Hipster deephouse all the way at Chicago Social Club’s fairly fresh monthly concept Backstage. This time around PRESETONE (that’s ONNO and Victor Coral if you didn’t know yet) will work their magic together with residents Homework, Chris Julien and Tettero. These resident sort of nights at CSC are really starting to work out lately. Did I mention our favourite ensemble of chicks will be rocking the bar? I’m talking about the Spacegirls of course. Go have fun and listen to good music through F1 sound systems!
Sunday: Trouw Op Zondag @ Trouw
It’s the time of the month for Trouw op Zondag again, still one of my favourite club concepts in town! You can grab a bite or do a dance with a crowd that’s a mix of people freshly off the boat and others who’ve been raving for the last 12 hours. Of course, the line-up has to be attractive aswell. Well I can tell you it is, my friends! Who are we speaking of? None other than Prins Thomas, Gerd Janson and Marcus Worgull back to back all night long! See you up front Amsterdam.
Sunday: Lazy Sundays – 24 Hr- Marathon Edition @ Secret Location
Lastly, if you don’t like club parties, you might want to consider celebrating your afterparty at Lazy Sundays’ 24 Hr marathon. Raw industrial indoor location, two areas and the best of underground techno and house DJs around Amsterdam. Location will be announced just before kick-off. Party starts on Saturday at 10pm and ends on Sunday 10pm. Enjoy the hangover!
