Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Next Monday’s Hangover @ Het Sieraad
For all you people fed up with all the NYE clichés and deceptions, you might want to visit our F*CK NYE party on the 30th of December. Featuring Greek one man brass band And.id, French maestro of melody Joris Delacroix, everyone’s favourite hippie Arjuna Schiks, the coolest chick behind Amsterdam’s decks Miss Melera and morgen.am residents Some Chemistry, SonurBer, La Vondèl, ME.N.U. and Ferdinand. Plus, a massive F*CK NYE countdown show filled with surprises! Be there early to get your hands on one of the 200 remaining tickets at the door.
Friday: Evotions, We Are E & Balans present: Function @ Studio 80
Probably the best alternative for ‘the night before’ is Evotions’ and We Are E’s party at the Studio 80. Featuring two upcoming international heroes in the game, Function and Chymera (live), and our own Darko Esser. This is one of those parties where you don’t need any more motivation than the names mentioned above and Studio 80’s spectacular sound system. Just so you know, the second room will be hosted by Villa28: Frenk Wiersma, Marc Pruijs, De Zorgenkindjes, Robby Bergmann, Max Enforte. See you at the afterparty!
Saturday: Border Community NYE @ Melkweg
The legendary Melkweg and James Holden‘s label Border Community have built up a good relationship over the past years. The latest label night during this year’s ADE was spectacular. Expect the same names plus more this time! Just have a look at this: James Holden, Nathan Fake (live), Apparat (dj set), Luke Abbott (live), Etienne Jaumet (live), Wesley Matsell, Kate Wax (dj set), Jorn Liefdeshuis, Spacegirls, Thomas Martojo, Casper Tielrooij and Cinema Royale. Both areas of the Melkweg will be filled with futuristic electronica, plus expect the theatre area to bring surprises as well, as the Spacegirls will be hosting it!
Saturday: Waterworld (Life Aquatic) NYE Party @ Pont 13
Just to put in something ‘different’ than your ordinary NYE club party, one of your best alternatives might be the cosy Waterworld (Life Aquatic) NYE Party at Pont 13, probably the most interesting location Western Amsterdam has to offer. Like previous years limited tickets will be available (200 max.), which means more exclusivity. Come dressed to impress and DJs Classic-G, Miwell Bewell & our morgen.am resident ME.N.U. will guide you through the night with party classics, deep-house and some soulful techno. Intimate parties with themes are usually a win.
Tickets + Champagne giveaway!
For this special occasion, we have 2 tickets to give away! As if these exclusive tickets worth €60,- each aren’t enough, the lucky winners will get their own bottle of champagne on top of that, BAM! Comment below this article on the Overdose.am Facebook page with your new year’s resolution. Best one gets them, winner announced friday end of day!
Sunday: Backstage – NYE @ Chicago Social Club
Three organisations (BACKSTAGE ♥ AWESOME BY DEFAULT ♥ KNUCKLE DUSTER) that have built a relationship with the Social Club over the past year will close off the year by combining forces and giving everything they have for this last night of the year. Mainstage will feature Victor Coral, Homework, Chris Julien, Terry Toner, Beesmunt Soundsystem, Kerk! and performances by The Knuckle Duster Sweethearts. Backstage will feature L.O.V.E. & Black Gold, Awesome by Default, Elroy Vanderley, Stereobrow, DDK, Audio Culture, Boston Strip and Faber. Sounds like this could turn into an orgy of party organising hipsters.
Sunday: Breakfast Club Nieuwjaarsontbijt @ Undercurrent
Finally, your best bet for a proper afterparty on the 1st of January is the Breakfast Club Nieuwjaarsontbijt. First of all, because you can get a free breakfast from 7am to 10am. Second of all, Minilogue, a USA based Mystery Guest, Brent Roozendaal, Robin Kampschoer, Tommy Kornuijt, Jaime Frias and Tom Liem will be hitting the stage. Third, the Undercurrent is a nice place to escape all the trash that has been left over in the city. Get energizers together ’cause the year is just startin’, you know. Enjoy next year’s hangover, people of Amsterdam!
