Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Blackout with Julio Bashmore @ Studio 80
On this third edition of the party that has brought the best of contemporary DJ/producers, Blackout welcomes none other than Julio Bashmore! One of the biggest talents of the past year in the electronica scene. By now you have all heard his cross-over club hit ‘Battle For Middle You‘. If you want to learn more about this young DJ and producer and the whole dub/house sound that emerged from Bristol, have a look at Resident Advisor’s short documentary. Filling up the evening will be Thomas Martojo, Michael Jacques and your best friends Homework.
Friday: CSC Resident Night @ Chicago Social Club
This Friday, it’s time for a night filled with residents from all over Amsterdam hitting the stages of the Chicago Social Club. The residents will be representing the sounds of organisations like Plak, Bar27, Cartel, Compound, Overdraven, Nachtdivisie and many more from 11pm until 8 in the morning! Plus, the small area will be the domain of Prunk, who will be celebrating his birthday. Finally, none other than Andre Lodemann will join the party all the way from Berlin to create the best of club house music. I’m not even gonna start naming the immense line-up, this will be your best bet on Friday if you feel like a proper all-nighter.
Friday: Oi! @ Paradiso
Of course, Amsterdam still has enough epic dubstep parties for those of you more fond of moshpits and loud UK bass music. For example, Oi! These guys never let down, specially not when you throw a party at our national pop temple Paradiso. Plus it will be the last edition of 2011. Main area provided with bass sounds from Coki (UK), Walsh (UK), Kutz (UK), Dismalnte (UK), Gomes and Beevee. Second room hosted by Rwina Records.
Saturday: Ratio? @ Trouw
Ratio? can be described as ‘timeless muscular house in all its glory’. Whatever that means, this Saturday you can enjoy yourself to the sounds of Berlin based and resident to Panoramabar/Ostgut Ton: Prosumer. We recently interviewed the man that not only makes house music, but actually lives it. The rest of the night will be filled in by Trouw’s superstar resident Melon. Go have fun kids and once again, enjoy the hangover!
