Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Thursday: Cassette Collectief @ Club Up
Good afternoon! Our good friends of Cassette Collectief are back in good old Club Up this Thursday, just before the official start of the weekend. Of course, they’ll be sticking to what they’re good at: creating an authentic vibe by mixing jazz, lots of bass and deep house music provided by residents Bert de Rooij, Tick Nopp and Caspar van Onsbrons. Only 6 euro, dirt cheap!Friday: Kevin Saunderson @ AIR
For those of you with a limited tech-know how: Kevin Saunderson, together with Juan Atkins and Derrick May, often called the “Belleville Three”, is considered to be one of the originators of techno, specifically Detroit techno. Throughout your last fifteen years of clubbing you have surely heard either Big Fun or Good Life pump through the speakers. Yes, that’s Kevin Saunderson and he’ll be playing a 3 hour set this Friday supported by Terry Toner. Second area will be hosted by Overdraven, go have big fun!Friday: Cassy’s Birthday Bash @ Trouw
This Friday brings us another heavy weight in the German electronica scene: Cassy. This attractive woman has been a globetrotter for a while and was recently inspired by the Berlin club scene. By now she’s worked with artists like Ricardo Villalobos and Steve Bug and had releases on Perlon Records. Recently she started cooperating with Trouw on a frequent basis. I guess by now the relationship has evolved pleasantly. After celebrating it in Rex and the Panoramabar, she will be celebrating her birthday here this weekend together with DJ Danny Howells from London.Saturday: Next Monday’s Hangover – Midnight Wonderland
As most of you will now, we at Overdose.am also host our own events alongside publishing this online magazine. For our biggest indoor event to date we’ve found a new and exciting location that will blow you away. For the occasion, we’ve invited two German artists to headline the night. The first is live artist and electronic craftsman Robert Babicz, a man on a mission with sounds and emotions. Our second headliner is Hamburg’s H.O.S.H., a long-time member of the very popular Diynamic family (Solomun, Stimming, David August).
Next to this, we also have something new to show you. As a spin-off of our Next Monday’s Hangover events we are launching our own record label Morgen.am. All of this, plus live art, theatre, extravagant decor, VJs and all sorts of crazy surprises. Important note: only 200 tickets available at the door, doors open at 10pm! If you don’t manage to score a ticket, there’s still some left for the official after party.
Saturday: Nachtdigital Loves Dial @ Trouw
Man, the more you think about another year ending, the more you have to think about the summer festivals again. Which ones will you go to in 2012? Melt, Fusion, Lowlands, Nachtdigital? Well to help convince you a bit, Nachtdigital residents Steffen Bennemann will represent his festival and Roman Flügel will represent his label Dial. I can assure you these two really know how to pick a record for the right crowd since they are both very well connected. These two guys have after party written all over them. If you’re looking for one, this one is probably your best bet from 5am on. Have a very gnarly hangover, Amsterdam!Related posts:
