Have you ever eaten a whole pizza all by yourself? Please don’t judge me, but… I have. A few days ago I took along a friend to De Pizzabakkers to be pleasantly fed. The thin, soft crust, and warm holy goodness of this Italian creation was hard to resist.
Shockingly good food
Along with some prosecco, dim lighting and a cosy atmosphere we started off splitting a small salad. After, I gulf down a white pizza topped with mozzarella, truffle sauce, ham and egg: shockingly good! While across from me, my friend enjoyed a four seasons special with tomato based sauce divided in pepperoni, mushrooms, ham, artichokes…hungry yet? We didn’t stop there and our sweet tooth lead us to share a panna cotta with caramel. Our kind host treated us with a cold glass of home-made limoncello to help with (very much needed) digestion.
After being hand tossed, the pizzas are seasoned accordingly and then placed in a hot stone oven to arrive at your table to admire and devour. If you want to be a bit healthier there are great salads on the menu too. What I like the most about this place besides the quality of the food, is that you don’t need to spend a whole lot of money to have a great meal there with friends, your partner or even take away and eat the goods while sipping beer and watching TV at home.
De Pizzabakkers has three locations throughout Amsterdam. Just a tip, make a reservation before you go, because the places get full, pretty fast. Last, but not least, Kriterion has joined forces with this small chain. Every Wednesday you can grab a pizza and a film for only €13,-, and for Cineville pass holders it´s a mere €6,50!
When you go, don’t hesitate to indulge!
