“A special project of DJs and producers Âme, Henrik Schwarz and Dixon (Innervisions, Berlin) is heading for Amsterdam especially for the Amsterdam Dance Event. On Thursday, October 20th these international acclaimed artists perform a live soundtrack on the silent German horror film Das Kabinet des Dr. Caligari (1920).” Sounds intriguing doesn’t it?
This experimental project was developed especially for last year’s JetztMusik festival and is being shown again during ADE next week. Âme, Henrik Schwarz and Dixon take inspiration from the original classical composition and combine it with modern electronic music. They have a musical theme for each character that they will play the music live during the film, using all sorts of controllers. Given the quality of these guys as DJs and as live artists, I am very curious how their contribution will help the story unfold.
