Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: SBTRKT + Audio Culture @ Trouw
SBTRKT is a musician/producer from London. He’s released various singles and remixed songs by artists such as MIA, Radiohead, Modeselektor, Basement Jaxx, Mark Ronson and Underworld. Furthermore, SBTRKT is an alias used to support the concept of anonymity; he rather doesn’t talk about himself as a person and lets the music speak for itself. You might’ve heard his tracks Wildfire, Pharaos or Hold On, big tunes in the hipster scene. No wonder it sold out, but Trouw always keeps around 100 tickets behind for sale at the door for the dedicated belated fans. Tickets are also valid for the Audio Culture afterparty later that night. Win win!Friday: Blackout – Prosumer 3 hour set @ Studio 80
Panoramabar resident Prosumer returns to Amsterdam for an exclusive three hour set at Studio 80! This man stands for everything that has to do with house and techno music. He lives it. He’s known for taking his time behind the turntables, and those of you who attended Nachtdigital last summer must know this. Supporting him in the main area are Casper Tielrooij and Michael Jacques. Small area will dance to the grooves of Prunk (live) and Maurits Reiss & Bobby Andrews. Go stand in front of Prosumer though!Saturday: Babylon @ Studio 80
Francesco Leali and Federico Maccherone from the suburbs of Milan form a DJ duo called Clockwork. Clockwork’s music is driven by anything varying from ’80s disco music to chugging techno. Their sound is mainly characterized by bouncy and decisive analog bass lines combined to rhythmic drum patterns, all mainly inspired by music from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Sharing the stage with these Italian guests are Freddy Spool opening the night and PRESETONE (ONNO & Victor Coral) ending the night into the hours of afterparty. But wait, there’s more: none other than Trouw resident Melon will be doing an extended set on the decks of area two! Have a great hangover.Sharing is caring!
